i would get the 76GT, its been getting awesome reviews for the buck, If im not mistaking another card, check this out.

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=908

also before you buy something, check out the reviews like in newegg , people own the card and tell you pros and cons.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130283

btw one of the reviews says the card isnt much of an overclocker. just wanted to warn you if you had any plans for your wife. )

The 7600GT is priced a few dollars more than the 6800GS. The 6800GS has a 256bit memory bus vs the 7600GT's 128bit but this is misleading in terms of pure performance as the 7600GT has higher stock core.

Your choice. . .

I have a quick question concerning the 7600GT and it's 128-bit bus. I will be buying and playing Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and will either be buying a 6800gs or 7600gt (pcie of course). How much of a hit will I take on AA and AF with the 7600gt due to the fact it's 128-bit?

I could care less which card is better for the money between the two, but my budget only has those 2 as options. I realize the 7600gt would easier be the better performer with AA and AF off for sure, but would the 6800gs be better with these options turned on? I would like your thoughts on this as I will be wanting to play with AA and/or AF on as far as performance will allow me to do so. Remember, I don't care about the price/performance ratio, only the one that would be better for me, specifically with AA and AF turned on. Thanks in advance.

Edit: Btw my apologies for the semi-hijack of this thread, I wanted to save forum space and figured this info might also help out Strider.

The lower memory bandwidth doesnt seem to hurt the 7600GT. It seems to make up for it with a more powerful core.
Very nice!

7600GT is coming to AGP?
Nope. 7800GS was the last AGP card, I believe.

I believe I've seen on theinquirer.net a couple of days ago that the 7600GT may come in agp, just that they will have to drop the core freq below 500MHz because that is the limit of the PCIe to AGP bridge.
I'll get back with a link on the article
