OK since i got a lack of respones to the last post and nobody really pointed me in the right direction let me askk one more time except its a lil different now ok heres the choices.
1.X1600 256mb agp for 139.00us
2.radeon x800gto agp for 175.00us
3. Gforce 7800gs agp for 299.00

Ok guys my main game is cod2, and im looking for sm.3.0 i know the 1600 has it but not sure about the 7800gs as i said im hoping to order this as soon as someone gives me some feedback what do you guys think i like the 7800 but the price is out there do you think it has double the performance of the x1600 cause its double the price or should i get the 1600 and a gig of ram ????

I'd go for the 7800GS for sure. You'll appreciate the extra power of that card in the long run. If you're short on cash after that and really want 1Gb of RAM, just get 2x512Mb of cheap generic stuff. It's normally rediculously cheap.

edit: another good choice would be a 6800GS...

Even though the 7800GS is a nice card I really think getting a 1600 and 1gb of ram Will really help you in your games.

If you are only going to be playing COD2 and not games like F.E.A.R. and Quake4 etc. then the X1600 for the price is a good buy.

I personally would go for the 7600GT.

Well its 12 versus 16 pixel pipelines--how much do you game? Unless the X1600 is offered as an AIW version I would go for the 7800GS--of course it's more than twice as expensive but it would at least provide some respectable performance and benchmark scores.

I have kind of had it with the AGP ATI offerings--at least the ones I've seen in action--they are no match for the AGP Nvidia cards. The Catalyst drivers have always been buggy and I think Nvidia has better relations with Game developers and software coders which might explain why most popular games play better on Nvidia (at least the ones I know about...)

The latest greatest PCIe stuff from ATI looks promising. Maybe we'll get lucky and an AIW X1900XTX will be released for AGP. But if you can't wait and see the 7800GS is the best card for an AGP mobo.
