Maxxed out the 820 @4.32

Thread Starter
Well Ive finally hit my max overclock @ 4.32ghz. Not sure which is at its limit (board or CPU) but Im guessing the board. Im thinking of getting another board just to see if its the boards voltage droops that are causing the problem. You know I always thought that heat would be the problem but that is not even close to being an issue. Hmm what to do what to do...

Congrats on the 54.2% OC!
Run any benches?...wonder what pcmark or aquamark CPU score that CPU will get.

what ARE your temps?

That's a sweet overclock.

EDIT: Noticed you're using 2 different sets of ram. That could limit your overclock. If you want to just check quick if you can get higher...take out one set of ram. You might be able to get a better overclock. If not, just slap em back in.

Hi Adeoliver,

that's a sweet OC .. congratulation man ...

I would like to ask are you stable at 4.32 & if you dont mind would you post some of your bios setting ?? cuz I had almost identical setup as yours .. and I couldn't get pass 4ghz due to heat issue .. (my cpu is 830 btw .. and I'm running on air cooling)

right now I'm having everything on auto except for the FSB & ram frequency

FSB is now at 265
Ram DDR2 530Mhz

My temp is now 40C at Idle and bout 63-64C at full load .. I'm a little worry on this but i'll get WC if I decide to push it more. I'm sorry that I dont have any screenie for you cuz I'm at work ... but for the spec .. it is under my sig ... the 2nd rig ..

Thanks, it wont bench, it is not a stable overclock, it is the max I can get. The board only allows a benchable overclock of 4.1 and some change, the voltage droop is just to much to run stable beyond that.

Temps at the time were 25c idle and in the low 30's at load with a 1.685Vcore.
As for the ram, Ive been through all that before, best I got with 1 set was 4.193(with either pair, it didnt matter), the ram is not an issue here, I believe the board just has to many voltage issues. Ive read some reviews stating this same thing, so what I think Im gonna do is can the New CPU and Video card Idea and get the new server version that just came out, and see where that gets me, heck I might even down grade to the 955x Premium(which newegg isnt selling now?)

Yup its stock at 2.8. It is a pretty sweet overclock but the CPU has alot more in it I know it does, heck it runs 3.85ghz at 1.425 vcore. but once I get above 3.9 the voltages start to take a crap on me.

Heres some screen shots of the Vcore and 12v, 1 is done with 2 4m Pi's and the other is with 1 4m Pi. Does this look normal? My celly D reads about the same with a little less droop.

Hey very nice OC man, it is definately the CPU at its limits and not the board. Even the ram would limit the OC before the board for sure. That board can do some HIGH overclocks, and I'm talking over 7ghz. Very nice!

Nice overclock. But what is your maximum stable clock? This is what interests me.

What is your maximum 12hour prime95 clean post?

My maximum stable overclock is 4005. I havent primed past 6 hours after that, but at 4005 it was prime stable for ten hours, when i ran 3dMark 05 I had to up the vcore another notch as the program would close its self.
