Kick Ass Case

Thread Starter
I have been set on buying the HAF-X for a while now but a few people are saying its not so good. so i am going to reconsider what i buy.
I am looking for a big case that can easily fit the evga classified 4way SLI Mobo.
i want to have the best cooling i can get (so the same or more places for fans that the HAF X has.)
i also want to go WC in the future.
it needs to be the same size or bigger than the haf-x
does anyone know of such a case?

CM 932, Obsidian 800/700D, Silverstone TJ07 (humongous). Now, are you planning on USING 4 way SLI? There are only a handful of motherboards that will actually support the usage of quad SLI, the HAF-x Being one of them. I haven't really heard anything -bad- per say about the HAF-X...I think its mostly just people not liking it for personal reasons (not what they thought it would be, etc).

Edit: If you want to go WC in the future, having a ton of fans all over the case won't be as beneficial anymore (it won't hurt, however). So I wouldn't buy a case specifically designed for air cooling when you plan on going watercooling in the future anyway - the 800D doesn't have great airflow, but is great for water cooling, same as the TJ07 - but it lacks cable management options and you'd have to get creative with a dremel tool.

People who told you that it isn't that good probably just don't like how it looks. If you like the appearance,, you really can't go wrong and won't regret it.

^Agreed

If you want to go WC sometime in the future, and you want 4 way SLI (not just the board, but 4 cards) then the HAF-X is probably your best option, if not your only option. Native support for a 360mm Radiator and plenty of room for a pump, res, and i believe another 120mm res on the exhaust port on the back of the case. With modification you could fit another 360 rad on the front of the case (inside).

who ever doesn't like the HAF-X hasn't ever tried to air cool 5 gpu's before with all the accoutrements of a well dressed rig.

the HAF-X will make most computers look tiny inside its cavernous hull. and supposedly its a great case for water cooling due to its massive size and ability to swallow many a radiator.

and plus it looks like its ready for being dropped from orbit.

There are a lot of haters of the HAF series simply because of how the case looks. IMO the case looks pretty good, it has a, industrial rugged look. The paint job has a rough frosted feeling. More importantly though it FUNCTIONS WELL. Has really good airflow. And has space for a 360 rad if you ever want to WC. I don't see any cons to this case except for size and weight. Don't be expecting to take this to LAN parties. Other than that, it's a great case. You should definitely buy it, if its in your budget.

I haven't used the Haf-X but I have the 800D and its awesome. Its also bigger than Haf-X. When it comes down to fitting quad SLI, I am sure both the 800D and the Haf-X will accommodate. The 800D will also fit a 360 rad right on top, without any modification and with lil modification you could squeeze in another radiator.

wow, thanks for all the quick responses.
i personally love the look of the HAF-x (i am using a haf 922 atm)
i will be covering the whole thing in 200mm Blue fans and led bars.
i will only be wanting to water cool the CPU and not the GPU so i will still need good airflow.
so hmm i think i will choose the HAFX then
thanks again.

Its also a common misconception that the 800D is bad for air cooling. Where as it isn't as good as lets say most cases as far as setup and layout allowing for good airflow, it can be made by the end user to efficiently cool a cpu with air. Just gotta be smart about fan placement and intake/exhaust flows. Which is really the case with any case really. So I wouldn't not get the 800D because its "bad" for air cooling. If you know what you are doing you can cool it.

Good decision I can find nothing wrong with this case.
