So I think I might have found something I can use... - Page 2

i suggest going to your nearest used goods store, in canada we have value village and amity. i got a 6,100 btu a/c unit for 15 bucks, bit rusty but it works. if you are making a phase change unit you just have to make sure that the compressor works, you could maybe get a broken air conditioner and check that the compressor works.

i actually have a A/C that I will probably replace this summer. It's a Kenmore 8000 BTU/Hr.
Cooling Amps 7.5
Cooling Watts 815

Would that possibly work?

That's a big improvment!

You'll be able to use the A/C unit for sure.

Yeah, don`t try to use that 236 BTU unit; `way too small. `Couldn`t cool a cup of coffe with it. The 8000 BTU unit would work plenty well. Just make sure you have a big enough reservoir for your evaporator coil, probably something half the size of an regular ice chest for a picnic or the beach. Wal-Mart would be a good place to start looking for one. Check out the build Wowza is doing. He`s almost done and has it nailed so far.
