Want to purchase a decent OC board for my A64 3200 skt 754 Clawhammer (CG-rev)

Since it's going to be a while before I can upgrade, I would love the opinion of you folks if it's worth upgrading my mobo to o'clock this or just stick it out until I can afford a decent upgrade?

As the topic states, my CPU is a skt 754 A64 3200 (CG rev) with the 1mb lvl2 cache.. CPU-Z Validation:

I've not seen any topics of people getting any decent overclocks with the same combination of cpu/board I have ( Gigabyte GA-K8VT800 v1 ), so I'd be elated if somebody would say that I could get upwards of 2.7 on Air ....

I have it slightly overclocked (I think I just bumped the FSB up, but don't remember as it's been like this for a long time, so it's stable as hell).

I have 2x512 Geil PC3200 DDR400 CL=2.5-8-4-4 (brand new off an RMA from Geil btw)

I think I threw most of my other configuration stats in my sig.

I'd really appreciate any reccomendations on the direction to take with this!!

Here is a good post with results in the 26-2700 range.

Your biggest draw back is the 800 series chipset, if it's not the 800 Pro it does not offer an PCI/AGP lock which will hampper the higher OCing due to the rising PCI/AGP bus speeds.

I think it would be worth it to get a better motherboard. Thats not a lot to spend and it would be an improvement untill you get enough money to get a whole new system. I say do it!

It's a good thing the Sigantures are limited to 8 lines... because you'd need 4 pages to list all your systems
BTW, Great advise on the MB selection!

You did not indicate if you wish to remain with AGP or go up to the PCI-e.

For AGP basically any well known brand with the nf3 250Gb or for PCI-e go for the ASUS K8N4-E Deluxe.

cheers

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

I'm not a gamer or require anything that graphic intense, so I'm fine with AGP..

Guess I'm off to explore purchasing a DFI board then ....

Really appreciate the help!
