How the hell do i export email from AOL 9.1

I am trying to reformat my aunt's computer and trying to backup her email is driving me nuts.

AOL software should be banned for human consumption, it is the worst thing known to man. No I do not want all this disorganized nonsense trying to be an everything all in one program. My aunt is stuck 10 years in the past or something.

So I am trying to backup her emails. Half of them are saved on the PC. AOL allows you to right click your emails and either save it on AOL in some folder (like gmail labels) or save it to your PC in some obscure location in a really weird way. Well if you save it to your PC, then you can't do anything with it, I can't even forward the emails to another email address.

If anyone knows how to somehow save/export or just transfer the emails so i can access them after i reformat please help me.

AOL is a cloud based mail setup. When you install AOL again after the format the email will simply be downloaded again.

That is sort of what I thought but I do not think that is entirely the case. When i logged in online everything was there EXCEPT the emails that she had chose to "save to PC". It's like all those emails are transferred from the cloud to the PC and only exist on the PC.

you are correct. you'll have to transfer those files on a usb drive/cd, etc.

Shoot I missed that.

It should be located here on XP and earlier:
C:\\Documents and Settings\\All Users\\Application Data\\AOL\\C_America Online 9.0\\organize.
Just copy the whole organize folder.

For vista/win 7 see this guide:
