Only 2 Speakers work on the Gigaworks 7.1 System..

Hi, today I received and installed my 7.1 Creative GigaWorks Surround Sound System. I've hooked everything up, all the wires in their correct positions. But, when I play audio, only the 2 front speakers work. Is there something I must enable on my system? I have an Nforce 4 Onboard since my XFI sound card has not arrived yet. What can I do and what am I doing wrong?

Make sure you have audio drivers installed. Then, make sure you enable that you are using surround sound in your sound mixer for your audio solution.

Now I got all the speakers working except the center. When I use speaker wizard from Nvidia, sound comes through it.. but not as the static they use. Instead, it comes out as a beep. When I play audio though, I get no sound from it.

I don't think the nForce4 audio chip is built for surround sound 7.1 ...

I'm planning on buying a 7.1 system, and I think you need a 7.1 card to go with it.

there should be and option on the speaker system to play all music and sounds through all the speakers in stereo, its meant for listening to music thats not 5.1 or 7.1 encoded....

Nearly all audio is recorded in 2 channel, so what did you expect? If you want sound to come from more speakers, you either need to use some artificial processing or simply have the same 2 sound channels fed to the other speakers(doesn't sound good IMO). Also, center channel is mainly used for watching movies recorded in DD 5.1 or DTS. Anything less than that is merely using a filter to grab the frequencies near the human voice and directing it through the center channel. It doesn't work well with music,IMO. For gaming, nearly all games are recorded in 4.1, so the center won't be used. If you want to "test" your system, get a good DTS recorded movie
