Asus X series VIA p4m800 help

Well, its been a LONG time since i last posted, and the persuit for my relativly cheap gaming rig continues!

Well, just today i purchased the Asus X series Via p4m800...well...Its exactly what i needed (i was upgrading from a PCI only intel/dell mobor) with AGP and to my suprise, at only 89 bucks (candadian) it also had SATA suport

So i got home and mounted my socket 478 P4 1.8 GHZ processor and put on its heatsink...Loaded everything up in my case, and conencted all my power cables...well, stupid me forgot to attach the "start" button. So i just figured id use the stock one that came with my dell case! OHH to my suprise it doesent fit the "system panel connecter" specified in the manual...so...umm, what exactly do i do? Can you "buy" power button!? or do i need a new casE?

Its runnign off a 250W PSU...so i was thinking of buying a new case with a power supply any way...Im assuimg this would fix my problem.

Any help would be awsome!

Ben

You could always pull the two wires for the stock start button out of the connector they're currently in (I'm guessing it's a many-pin connection and you need just a two-pin one) and connect them directly to the leads on the mobo. The order of the wires doesn't matter, i.e. you can hook either wire to either pin.

You can also buy ATX switches separate from the case if you need/want to go that route.

Awsome! thanks for all your help

I yanked the two wires from the connector...and well, i put it in, and now my system wont boot!..well, it will start...but my PSU just chokes and shrivvles up into a festering pile of nothingness...lol

so im just going to go out and buy a new case with a nice 350W PSU.

Ounce again, thanks for you're time!
