ram voltage warning?

Thread Starter
I purchased some mushkin redline 6gb ddr3-1600 6-8-6-24 triple channel kit, and when I set it to run at spec 1.65v I get a message stating this can ruin my chip (core i7 940 on a p6x58d-e mb). I want to run this computer 12 hrs a day..

Is it really not safe to run my ram at spec? should I send it back to newegg and get some lower voltage ram with same speed/timings OR if I chose to keep it, should I keep it running at ddr3-1333?

thanks!

1.65v is the max voltage for the i7's to run their ram safely. i run my dominator's literally 24/7 at 1.65v so i wouldn't worry at all.

If your running your computer for that long you may as well keep it at ddr3 -1333 and change the settings higher whenever needed instead of keeping them in place

1.65 is not max 24/7 its just what intel said was max 2 years ago.
intel now says 1.75V is safe

do you happen to have a source on that? I would have figured that would be reflected in setup since the p6x58d-e is a semi-newer release right?
