Hey guys,

I have finally decided to go with AMD for my next computer build. I was looking for some help on the parts for the computer.

Here's what I have so far:

AMD X2 4200 Processor:

Motherboard:

I am stuck between what mother board to get, I'm looking to get some help on what choice I should make.

Memory

I found some good cheap 2gb kits for ram, I dont know if they are good.. Looking to get advice from you guys.. I also heard its better to go with Cosair xms?

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...y&promoid=1030

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...y&promoid=1030

I am stuck for memory, I dont know anything about what is good and whats not...

Graphics
Agian I dont know much about the 7800's and 7900's so looking for help here too heh.
Here is a 7900 BFG OC.. It's cheaper then a 7800 GTX.. not too sure why?

Here is a EVGA I was looking at..

Sound Card

PSU:

No Idea at all...

Basically I am going to be using this computer for Gaming, Graphics, Web, and Movie editing.

I must seem like a complete nub, but any help is great guys.

Thanks very much.

your pc looks pretty nice, on the ram I would get this ram( I will get soon )
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231021
Heard alot of good reviews about it.. and on the CPU I would go with the 4400 because it has 1mb l2 cache..and you can find a good price on the aandtech.com forums in the sale/trade section or maybe even on e-bay...besides that your pc looks awsome

EDIT: from article "I'd say that two "3500+" cores working in unison earns the Athlon 64 X2 4200+ more of a "7000+" rating. Given a single-threaded application though, the X2 4200+ performs more like a regular 3500+, which is where the catch is."

Do you plan on OCing and if so, how much, meaning moderatly or to the extreme, or moderatly now and perhaps to the extreme in the future?

I might give OCing a try down the road, but I am not sure on how to OC, and I don't think it would be right away if I did.

Get this PSU, seasonic s12 600w, very good PSU, very quiet and efficient, its also sli certified.

I got this motherboard, abit an8 sli, really good mobo, works very good and it has great overclocking utilities...

Both of those items work very nice...and the PSU has a rebate right now so its cheaper..but since I got this two items like september they haven't really dropped price whatsoever...

k, ill add some links from the website you want to order from. See if this helps.

7900gt - youll be more than happy with this card, its awesome 399$
http://search.ncix.com/displayproduc...20Technologies

DFI Mobo - Not Sli but thats only really if you want to spend the big bucks - 151$
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=DFI

OCZ power supply - 96$
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...Z%20Technology

Go with either of the ram you choose and you will be awesome. 240-250$

CPU 386-463$

Raptor HD 74g - 204$

total = 1473 no case or dvd drive but that will be cheap (pick out what you like best) 1269 w/o case. This leave you quite a bit of room to mess with dvd drives and whatever else you might want.

If you want to save some money the 3800+X2 wont be much diff than the 4200+X2 and the 4400+ which is alot better will set bck quite a bit more, the 3800 is awesome and in a few months the Dual cores will be ustilized more. GL and keep us posted
