Fermi issues: Low GPU Usage and Bad Company II Stuttering - Page 24

BradleyW, i seen you tried a lot of stuff, but the only common factor that you haven't tested or changed is the motherboard.

From my experience, i have/had a GIGABYTE X58-UD3R and it was working great for 6 months, running eyefinity, then swapped to nvidia surround because, drivers stuff and adapter issues, well to make this short, i started having shuttering and random **** with my computer, like random restarts, bad frequencies on overclocking (bios bug), freezes out of no where, BSOD, and different stuff, sometimes it was OK for hours of gaming and sometimes it was a pain in the ass. i tried swapping cards etc etc and same weirdness, finally tested on a neighbor system, i was also worried of my Xfi cause some times didn't detect it, but i was playing games fine and just a lot of weird issues.

The motherboard works but not correctly, upgraded downgraded Bios firmware on the Vcards, tons of different drivers.

At the end i ditched the MB and now i have an asus rampage 3 extreme and is solid as rock no micro shuttering on BFC2 on nvidia surround with 2 470GTX

I think your problem might be in your motherboard.

my advise try testing with a different Motherboard.

Worst experience with Gigabyte, and that was a first for me, Gigabyte has been always good to me but this time was really disappointing, yea i know it was a faulty MB.

The workaround for me to play BC2 smooth is running DX9, But it sure is ugly!
The game is smooth in DX11 when i disable 1 core, but my fps are rather low then.
My biggest issue at the moment: LOW GPU USAGE! I only see 30-50% of my gpu being used.
NO! This is not a bottleneck! My cpu only sees 60-75% usage.
While with a 5770 ati card I got 99% usage on the gpu Ã*nd cpu.

Thank you very much for your post. So after reading this i am going to get a better motherboard. Ive noticed something as well! Ive noticed everyone with a rampage 3 extreme mobo and gtx cards have no issues!

Sadly i cannot afford the same board as you so what board should i get? Rampage 2? or evga LE SLI X58? Suggestions please?

I've been playing BC2 almost everyday since I got the 480's and it runs perfectly smooth on my old hardware.

Really guys, this has NOTHING to do with your motherboard manufacturer.
Replacing motherboards is the stupidest thing i've heard here.
nVidia employee has said they are currently looking into this, just wait a bit.

Quote:
Just a quick update everyone. It looks like we have a fix. So far we have tested dual core and quad core processors in DX11 mode on 32-bit and 64-bit systems and the smoothness of the game is much better. The micro-stutter appears to be gone. Tomorrow I shall test DX10 mode but the fix our dev team introduced should apply to DX10 mode as well. As I previously stated, this fix won't make it to next weeks beta driver release but will definitely be in the follow up version. The fix also only applies to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. If you are seeing the same micro-stutter in other games, please let me know the game title and your system configuration (including Windows version), in game 3d settings and resolution you are playing the game. Last but not least, if a previous driver did not exhibit any micro-stutter, please let me know the version of that driver. Thank you all for your time and patience.
