Fermi issues: Low GPU Usage and Bad Company II Stuttering - Page 47

Even with the new drivers I still seem to only get a avg between 55% and 70% usage. Cranking up AA does nothing, and only time I saw a change was when I selected 32xAA in BC2 and put my GPU at 98% usage and gave me 10fps.

2048x1152 4xaa, 16xaf, all high, no HBAO.

I get a avg between 40-50 FPS. sometimes hover in upper 30s..

Yet a 285 owner, friend of mine, is getting 90% usage now, and a 30 FPS gain. He gets avg 90-100. Yet he is on DX10, I'm trying to compare, but everytime BC2 tries to start in DX10 so it crashes.

GG fermi

EDIT: I do wanna say the stuttering is gone, and BC2 plays like COD now, where its butter smooth and you can pull those shots or moves where unlike before you couldn't. I give props to that.

EDIT2:

Here's the update I promised.

Going from my Q9550 rig to this one, with the same GTX 480, my framerates have gone from the abysmal 25-40 to 60+ no problem. The Q9550 was at 3.8GHz, and even at a stock 3.06GHz, the i7 950 seems to have no bottleneck. Figures.
Hm.... I have Q9650, at 3.8 right now, and I think I have your problem as well.. But if i7 is the only fix for this game, then A) thats pretty sad, considering a Q9550 or 9650 should not bottleneck that bad compared to a i7, when in gaming wise, it really is no difference.

i7 sounds like it solve my problem, But I'm not willing to drop $500 for 1 game when that 1 game is outdated highly already and was never that great from the start.

That's a good sign of CPU bottleneck

Plus I'm possitive people have reported much better results with better CPUs

make a shortcut to "BFBC2Game.exe" and put "+fullproc" behind the target.
After this your CPU will be used more and your loading times are less and you will get more FPS

That's been around for ages.

To my post; I REALLY REALLY fail to see now how going to i7 will improve things. My buddy who I talked to again, is running a Q66 at I wanna say 3.6 or close to that. And a single 285 with these drivers. Yet, he maintains 80-90 FPS avg and 98% GPU usage.

With a 460, I fail to see that, and barely do 50 sometimes.

I fail to see now how going from C2Q to i7 would make a difference. Espicially at first I thought he had in is E8400 @ 4.0, then I'd be really piss to find out my q9650 and 460 cant even keep up with 2 yr old tech.

Which BC2 is PROUDLY showing.

So please, I'm gonna need some explaining, or my line still stands,
BC2 is a godawful horrible made game with nothing but problems it seems.

I thought exactly the same thing. That's why I eventually gave up: a GPU upgrade and a CPU upgrade and still no performance difference!

And I read the same things about people with lower clocked/older processors being able to churn out high GPU usage, so I had no idea what the problem could have been.

But alas, with a new PC I no longer have any problems with this game. GPU usage stays near 100% and framerates are buttery smooth.

Who knows, maybe it was a RAM bottleneck. I was running 800MHz DDR2. Or maybe it just didn't like my mobo (780i). We will probably never know.

It sounds to me as though after upgrading, the hardware is so quick that not all of the hardware is being used and it's causing issues lol.

edit: I once has a 4890 and a q6600 at 3.7ghz and i played on a 18" monitor at 1280by1024. I got 30fps in all games. Moved to 22" 1080p monitor and got 50+ fps and smooth games. The rig was too powerful and was not being stressed enough/fully utilized.

I get like 20-25 on average better minimums with these drivers and I'm on a GTX260. I was hesitant to install but these drivers fixed polling problems with EVGA Precision (or Precision did in a recent update, have updated it twice recently).

Even during explosions the FPS is much better (with no AA). Before if I played with 4XAA, both set in the ini file and setting up via NVCPL, my FPS would take a nice hit. Now, the FPS stays about the same as without, about 5-8FPS less only, and only really hits low FPS during explosions.

But after all the tweaking I've done and manipulating settings, it could be placebo. But the game on average runs so much better now.
