F.E.A.R. on my 7900GTX!

Thread Starter
Alright im back with a new thread to compile some benches with my 7900GTX, this time its F.E.A.R. all graphical settings are set to MAXIMUM (actually ALL settings period are on MAXIMUM) with 4xFSAA 16x anistrophic filtering, soft shadows ON at 1280x960. My CPU was at 4.21GHz with DDR2-560 in 1:1 ratio, the 7900GTX is stock at 650/1700. Check the picture for the results of the graphics test 0% below 25FPS, minimum was 28.

EDIT/// I should note that vSync was on but for some reason F.E.A.R. thinks my monitor is set to 60Hz instead of 75Hz, the FPS was topping out at 60 for I'd say about 25% of the time (based on 40% above 40FPS).

EDIT//// Second pic without vSync

Very nice. What do you get without Soft Shadows?

Actually I get about 1 more FPS average with soft shadows off. I read a review that said not to use soft shadows and AA but I'm using both and I definitely saw an improvement with soft shadows on, the shadows look MUCH better and I can live without that 1 extra frame per second Im not kidding you this 7900GTX is hardly even working to get the above FPS, its temp never even reached 50c with the stock cooler! LOL!

Hmmmmmm...... Here's my run though. Same exact settings as you. I wonder why I scored higher with a 7800GT at stock settings?

Edit/// Second pic is with the 7800GT overclocked to 489/1140.
Remonster-- Hey man, I'm not busting your chops or anything. Just wondering why the difference? I just did not want you to think I was being a jerk!

Did you have any problem overclocking or was that simply a rumor? Also, can you force HDR if you have AA on if you set it out of game?

Well just ran it again and double checked settings, everything Maximum, 4x fsaa and 16x anistropic, soft shadows ON. All the same and scored the same on second run. IS my AMD making that much difference?

EDIT/// Just turned soft shadows off and it only made a 1 fps difference too. Weird.

I agree. I like softshadows and have always had them on as this was a major reason for my Video card's purchase. That and stutter in high resolutions. When I take softshadows off though my framerate increases by over 10FPS
