Brass Bottom Boys - Page 105

Well when I go to upgrade my MSI 260 GTX Twin Frozr to a new eVGA GTX 460 SC as my "Physx Card" (I used quotations because my Physx card doesn't get used as a physx card much lately since this is my only computer so I can't game and fold at the same time lol) let me know if you want to take this one off of my hands Capt'n... You say I'm a horrible man? You must not be married with children then lol.... They suck the life out of you lol... I'm kidding, I love my wife and kids....Sometimes, when it's convenient for me lol

A bit of good news guys, I recently became a blogger/admin over at www.techreaction.net so now I will receive some nice new products to review them so wish me luck with it guys.

Man I thought that we were friend "Cygnus"... And then you had to go and screw that up by calling my Lawrencendl ... Lol J/K but seriously it's fine for all of you guys to call me Nathan lol. I spent enough time in the military being called by my last name lol so I guess I shouldn't had put it on as my name here huh? Oh and i re-read what I posted last night and I hope that I didn't give anyone else the vibe that I was going anywhere or anything like that. I'm not leaving this site for another lol. I was just trying to say that I will be over at the tech Reaction site doing some nice product reviews and blogs. I'll post some links to some of the stuff that I do once I get it going.

Congrats on the position off site Nate.

On the topic of upgrading: I'm debating upgrading my rig to i5. Any tips/suggestions for really good bang for the budget stuff?

Repo it depends on how much you have to spend i think we can do a little good folding machine
And why not a X6? same price range and you would have 6 cores instead o 4 (You can Sli hack the board so no problem there either) think about it CPU and board would be around 350€

We'll, I'd like to keep it pretty cheap. I'd be selling off some extra hardware I have around here. Ideally ~$100 for a mobo, ~80-100 for RAM (6GB?), and whatever is the best/cheap OCing dual core i5 (don't have enough for a quad). I already have the HDDs, GPU, and PSU.

Oh, I thought all the i-lines were triple channel. See, I'm a nub. I'm still stuck on 775 architecture.

So.....4GB then, lol.

(I missed the X6 comment somehow)

I'm just an Intel guy, and I'm unfamiliar with AMD. Seems like the new i5's OC pretty well. But again, I'm unfamiliar with the AMD options so how well do they clock? I do know though that I've loved OCing my 775s on my UD3P (and would like to go with the i line version of the UD3P if I go that route. Good impressions with Gigabyte over the months).
