@ Repo, we all make mistakes but that one is a real humdinger lol. well hopefully my awesomeness will offset it lol. I got a 6901 with a TPF of 32:20 which calculates to 75093 points when it drops (of course it wont be quite that much but close to it.) so hopefully (Knock on wood) I don't have any hiccups. My ETA is 3/24/2011 6:07 AM so Thursday morning. I might be able to get one or 2 more -bigadv WU's in this month or if not then I will be dropping one on the 1st to start off a hell of a month.

BTW cait, nice 92k WU from the 20th there. That's insane. I can't wait for my Hexacore CPU.
A humdinger indeed! Oh well, so it goes. I'll knock on some wood for ya mate.

yeah I love my little hex! Its great! I usually run at around 21 min per frame and get 2 units done for every 3 days. My only wish is that I could have got to 4.6Ghz. I'm a chicken though and I'm scared to push the vcore up past 1.4 on it. I have a wicked wc loop but I'm a wuss I just always wanted to get under the 20 min mark but oh well, I guess that will have to wait for the LGA2011 that I will get next year..... unless somehow I end up with a 990x for some reason (thats how I got this i7 970, I won it from evga along with my gtx 465 that I was using (hehehe))

Aha lucky guy... I'm planning on selling my current build and moving to either one of these builds:
AMD:
Phenom II X4 955 BE
Asus M4A87TD Evo
Corsair XMS3 1600 7-8-7-20

Intel:
Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge
Asus P8P67-M
Corsair XMS3 1600 7-8-7-20

Both with a water cooling loop with an x3 radiator, GTS 450, SSD, 1TB Caviar Black, 2TB Caviar Green, 600 W PSU. All in a Cooler Master HAF 932.

Any ideas?

Jesse to be honest with you I think your current system is much better. As far as I can tell you are folding well with your gts 450 but it looks like you are only doing unicore with your 6 core. Not trying to step on toes here but do you have your -smp flag in? are you overclocked? Do you plan on it? And are you planing on doing -Bigadv? I'm sure between us we can get your ppd way up from where they are!

I dropped another Wu this morning. This one should be in the same 72k-75k point range too. Picked up another 6901 which my computer seems to run very well. I'll let you know how many points this one is worth once it comes up on the website.

well i'm really trying to get over 4 GHz but I think that my mb is giving me a sort of block. i cant push my bus speed past 300 and still be able to boot my system. do you think that would be an issue with the mb or the ram maybe? i have OCZ3OB1600LV4GK wish is a 1600 ram but my board supports1066, 1333, and 2000 but it is running it at 1066 unless i overclock it to just over 1550. I do have the -smp flag running with F@H. I haven't tried -Bigadv, because I'm not completely sure what it does. My 1055T is running stable at 3650 MHz but on full load I'm pushing 53 degrees C and i'm not sure if i should push it much further.

I would lay the hammer down if I were you! 53C isn't bad at all. I would start getting worried at anything over 79C but thats just me. I commonly go overkill on cooling just to try and get the best overclock so I would consider going with a better cpu heat-sink before I went looking at a new setup. For example this is a huge pain in the butt cooler to get installed but it does a wicked job and it quite cheep.

Would you be able to tell us the voltages that you are using to get your best overclock? I have looked up your mobo and it looks like a solid buy and the ram looks nice and standard too so I wouldn't worry too much about them until you see a reason to be concerned from seeing weird things happen when trying to bring a nice big OC on. As far as vcore on the amd chips, pushing a solid 1.45-1.5v is fairly common, especially to get the 6 cores up to 4.0ghz and greater.

lol well i just found out that my mb decided it would be a great idea to change the timing on my ram so i changed that back to stock. and i'm pushing 1.4875 Vcore with a coolermaster hyper 212+ with a double fan setup with both fans blowing 90 cfm. I just got the computer to boot at 4.02 GHz and im going to load test it then try to push it further.

Jesse, you said that you wanted to get a new CPU anyways then i would go ahead and get a Phenom II X6 1090t since it's basically your CPU on steroids and you don't need to buy anything else to compensate. The CM Hyper 212+ is an excellent cooler especially when you consider that it only costs about $35 but If your serious about pushing it farther then I would consider getting a beefier CPU cooler.

The reason that I suggest that you get a 1090t is because it is a Black Edition CPU and that will allow you to overclock well over 4.0 GHz without even raising the FSB at all. They are on Newegg for $199.99 with free shipping plus you get a free $10 Newegg gift card with it right now so essentially its $189.99.

About the whole heat issue, I wouldn't push it past 69c as AMD CPU's and Intel CPU's have a lot different thermal tolerances and AMD's just happens to be quite a bit lower than Intel's. I for instance wouldn't sustain temps of above 80c on my Core i7 but some people are fine with that. I can't really afford a new one (or another new one after I get this new one lol) if I fry it so I like to be cautious. If it helps any, I can get you a nice list of generalized settings for your current CPU to see if you can get it a little higher... that is if you want me to.

Now on to Folding news. As I said earlier today, I dropped another WU today and this time it was for 74,488 points. I picked right back up another 6901 (which the last one was also) and it says that this one will be worth 75,124 points (the last 2 or 3 WU's I had were reported in HFM.net exactly on the money for just how many points they would be worth so let's hope cause I would like to have that very much so) when it drops on 3/26/2011 at 12:57 PM.

I am enjoying having a computer that folds the way that it is supposed to (Knock on wood) though I still can't wait for my taxes so that I can get one of the following 3 processors. The Core i7-970, Core i7-980x, or Core i7-990x depending on exactly how much money I am able to save up between now and then. Let me know if I can help any of you guys in any way and lets keep up the awesome work guys. Hopefully next month ,with a little luck, we can take at least top 3 for the month (but you know we can take first guys). With Cait and me both pulling 74k+ WU's every 2-3 days (or in Cait's case, 2 every 3 days) we can really step this up and come out on top.
