yeah well right now i'm looking at moving up to a Cooler master haf 932 so i can put a water cooling loop in it. and do you think there is any reason that no matter what i do, it wont boot with the bus speed over 300? in bios it allows up to 600

Your best bet is to make a post (and also search through the posts) in the AMD section and ask about what settings (they should be able to give you some settings for whatever speed you hope to achieve. I hate to pass your question off to them but I have only slightly dabbled in overclocking AMD systems as I have a Intel myself and most of my clients choose Intel also. If your not getting the answers that you need there then let me know and I will find out exactly what you need. Now be aware that whatever settings they give you Will be for their specific systems ( their CPU on their motherboard with their RAM) and you might have to adjust them slightly but they should get you close. Also, I don't know if you have overclocked before or not but make sure that you be patient with it. It's an long aggravating process of trial and error and is easy to get frustrated with. Don't hesitate to take a break if you need to (just don't do it while stress testing if your CPU temp is already too high lol). And remember, you are not alone with this as you landed yourself on one help of a team with experienced overclockers and folders who will help if you need it. Plus we have a pretty prestigious group of retired team members too. So don't hesitate to ask for our help since 1. Your our team mate and 2. If your system does well then the whole team benefits from it. Good luck and PM me if you need some more help. I'll even help walk you through it over the phone if you need me too...

whats your multiplier set too? it goes up to 14X so 14X300=4,200ghz? I agree, you will get much more help on the amd wall for overclocking and seeing whats up with your mobo.

So if I were to get a GTX 590...would I be able to fold on both gpus for my position on the team?

hmmm thats a great question and austin and my answer is I SURE HOPE SO!!!! That would be amazing! What is your plan for the 580 if you get a 590?

Jessie, the ram speed is super low return on overclocking compared to the cpu. I would set the ram at its stock speeds and voltages and then push up the FSB after the multi is set to 14. You will get LOTS of help with your OC on the amd board.

actually, the max temp for intel and amd chips are very different... x6 thermal shutdown is 62c compared to i7's 100c .. comfort zone for x6 is <55c compared to i7's <80c

so at 53c, he's near the limit, just thought id mention this before you guys have him push his chip to death lol

Thanks for your concern Koven. We have told jessie to head over to the AMD forum several time to get better advice then we can give him. We also stressed the importance of cooling and recommended better coolers and solutions. I admit that I stand corrected with the max temp. Has that call on the 590 come down from above or is this assumed what will happen because of an rule from an earlier time with GTX 295's?
