Well hell, I might have to start folding on a Ubuntu Virtual Machine within Windows and see if that gives me a nice jump in PPD. If not then ill just dual boot.10k points per WU and a 2 minute drop in TPF is very impressive. That puts you at about 100k+ per WU huh? Good work and I can't wait to experience that for myself. Sadly it will be at the cost of my spot on the team

As for your WU of just over 500 points, I have no idea what's going on. Maybe if you ask Zodac really nicely, she might give you some one on one time and help walk you through it to get it setup perfectly. You might also try to PM the X6 folder for the misfits as he is folding -bigadv WU's on his so obviously he has it working right. I'm sure he'd be happy to help you out even though this is a competition, we are all striving to get more points for OCN ultimately and that would help somewhat.
@Repo, you might be able to find a 216 core 260 GTX for cheap and that should help right? I forget what your folding on now. If you ready have a 260 then maybe a 285 would help. It's a great card with huge increases in PPD over the 260. I'll keep an eye out for one for you if you'd like me too.

I'm on a GTX260 right now (honestly cannot remember if it's a core 216 or not). A 285 might indeed be worth the upgrade. I'll have to see what my budget can be. I'm already getting the wife to let me spend money for HTPC goodies, lol.

See that's what makes this team so great. If we get you on that 285 then you'll be basically getting the most points available for your bracket (of course you'd have to get a new gpu waterblock for it but it would be worth it) and that would rock. If we keep tweaking out equipment a little here and there then we'll be unstoppable. Let's keep up the great work guys.

Edit: Sorry I forgot to ask before. Jesse, how is the quest for -bigadv on your X6 coming along? Please let me know if you need any help and I will do any and everything I can to help. All you have to do is ask. That goes for all of you guys. If there is something that you need help with just ask and even if I don't know the answer, I will figure it out for you. I pride myself on my resourcefulness and in fact, if there is something that someone asks me but I don't know the answer to it, it will bug me to the point that I can't sleep until I figure it out lol. So my services are at your disposal so please take advantage of them. I am willing to do any and everything I can to help this team (Not just The BBB but Team OCN as a whole. Of course I want The BBB to be first though. It's the only team I have ever folded for and in fact I joined it within a week of starting folding so this is my folding@home....home which makes you guys my family.) get to number 1.

Indeed, we have a dang good bunch of people here on this team! RE: waterblock - I have the uni-block so I wouldn't have to change anything actually!

That's awesome. The uniblock is less effective at cooling than a block made specifically for each card isn't it? I'm sure its still much more effective than any air cooling option though isn't it? Well hopefully you can get the 285 soon and then we would kill it. Then all we would need is to get Jesse's -bigadv working right and my rig working in a Ubuntu VM and we'll be sitting pretty. I just saw that a 2600k can do 60k ppd so I might opt to do that instead of a 970. I can get a 2600k and the best board for it for about $100 more than just the 970. What do you guys think? Then I would have native SATA III & USB 3.0 on my board. Just so many choices. Please give me your input guys.

I'm personally all up for saving money. Though you have to consider the side factors here. The 26K is cheaper, but what's the difference in cooling for it? Will you need to run it harder and hotter to compete with the PPD of the 970? If so will you need more cooling for it? Etc etc.

Off the bat it sounds better though. You'd save money and have a board with more options (USB and SATA 3, mmm) which would be more future-proof (which is always nice). I'm leaning to the 26K right now.

RE: Uni block. Uni blocks cool the core of the card more than full-coverage blocks. The cost of that is it doesn't cool the rest of the card. However, I have a bottom fan in my 690 that's directly cooling the PCB of the card. So overall, temps are better with the uni-block (so long as a person keeps air over the card/etc). My 100% load temps are ~39C.
