Nope. If jesse was doing -bigadv, he'd be capable of the same. 2nd place last month, and 1st place the month before, were X6s. :P

Hello everyone, glad to see everyone chugging along...

Just wanted to share my future plans regarding what I'll be planning in the coming months. As I'm sure some of you read, the -bigadv will be taking quite a hit jumping up to 16 cores required and no one is sure if 2600k will be able to complete them in time, dropping them back down to just smp. If that is truly the case I will be passing my folding rig down to the living room and using it as a crazy overpowered HTPC (still folding of course) but I've been wanting to do that project for a while and that would really make it feasible. As well as for xmas I'm getting my home theater setup with some nice Klipsch floor speakers and quality receiver to blast some flac jams!

In the mean time there will be no change from me, but if all that does go into effect then my PPD will drop heavily from just smp, but also from tv usage thumb.gif

Thanks for keeping us in the loop Freddy. Man, I haven't heard that about bigadv. I wonder what kind of effects that will create in the team comp.

I think there's a FAQ/walk through thread back in the main folding forum Jesse. I have never ran bidadv or ubuntu so I'm not much help there, lol. I hear ya @ school and work. Keeps me pretty busy myself man. :/ Good to see you around though!

This is the best guide so far, you might wanna set the corefix.sh to just 8 tho, and if you're on a fastish connection you can skip Langouste if you want since it's mandatory (it's a decoupler for DL/UL and lets you start download a new WU right after you've finished one and don't have to wait on UL, but it's been iffy for some people holding WU hostage and whatnot. A normal bigadv is around 100MB UL, so decide if you want it or not). :
Code:
TARGET_NCPUS=12
change that to
TARGET_NCPUS=8

e- Do'h, a link would be useful: http://www.overclock.net/t/1048365/ubuntu-setting-up-big-bigadv-p6903-for-dedicated-2600k

hey guys,

I find myself with $600-$700 to upgrade my rig. Any ideas? Still pondering getting another 5970 for quadfire or/and snatching up that Asus Ares on the f/s forums.... any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
