I agree. I'm surprised your temps are as low as they are.

I don't think can fold with the 580 in linux.

Not optimally. At least I didn't get it working optimally yet. You first have to install CUDA libraries in Linux which is already quite a hassle. Then you have to get WINE installed which is also quite buggy and a resource hog. After that you have to pass the CUDA libraries to WINE and install GPU3 client in WINE. After that, you take a 10-25% performance hit and drifting frametimes.

Also software overclocking is a no go, only micro code. So I don't know if Element flashed his voltage profile on the GTX 580 and hardclocked it for you but you need to do that as well. I do not recommend GPU folding in Linux.

That is about what I thought. I set the voltage only in the BIOS. Its not hard to flash the clock speed though.

It's all good. I'm gonna keep the 3770k under water and deal with it for now. Of course I didn't get myself a T-line or anything for draining the loop so I'm gonna have a fun time disassembling the loop when I get either new additions or want to readjust anything.

In other news, I have been added to NV cat with the 580, and the FX series will be allowed into cat3 by tomorrow. Neurotix, I'll contact you with further information once I receive it from Anubis when I know how to go forward with this. But if you can get prepared to make the switch, in terms of your single passkey and everything, soon to your processor that would be awesome thumb.gif

For now given the circumstances, we're gonna stick with Op folding his 3770k (HTPC) at 4.5ghz and his 990x until we can find another i7 non hex that can fold for us.

Now, what we will have empty at this time is our AMD cat. if anyone has any friends or aquaintences that would be a contender for our AMD cat, shoot them a PM or you can give me their username and I can do so too. This will be our empty slot for a bit, which Is fine for now since the cats aren't weighted at all I guess. If you have an AMD card that you can temp, let me know as well. Completely understandable if you only want to fold one piece of hardware as well.

Otherwise, I think that's it for now smile.gif

I'm in 11th of 10 places for NV cat right now. Lol rolleyes.gif

neurotix is our new cat3 folder. I'll be doing 24/7 GPU on the 580.

Op, I may have found us another i7-1 folder, if you are fine folding on your HTPC 3770k that would be amazing... But that is down the road. Still getting in contact with him through Blademaster's old thread.

Let's keep crankin' boys, gotta keep ourselves in D1 cheers.gif !

It doesn't matter to me which of my rigs are in the competition. They are both folding 24/7 regardless.

Latest project. Didn't quite work out as I intended, the name is Cup World.

Seems I need to get into this quite some more. Took 9hrs to render...

Interesting... What are the blocks floating around?

Meh, bit of abstract but my motive was to imagine squeezing the Earth into a cup or can. Water and land would end up in the cup, atmosphere and heat would dissipate and the blocks would be ice although the Phong algorithm ended up turning it into a less diffuse object and thus resembling glass... frown.gif

Also, the blocks were ment to be falling although the randomizer positioned it too structured so it looks like it's floating.

Not sure if I'm going to revise or drop this project.

BM Found us an AMD folder and possibly an i7 folder. Waiting on a response from the i7 now... and just waiting on the AMD guy to confirm his passkey is only on his card and not his CPU as well. thumb.gif
The AMD guy is a 5870, and we may have cut a deal to get a 3930k folding with Op's heatlocked 3770k.
I'll let you all know asap.
