Brass Bottom Boys - Page 58

Turned GPU folding off on the i7 to see if I can improve my TPF's. I'll probably only turn it back on for non 2684's. The loss of a little over 2k a day isn't that big of a deal if it improves my TPF's by even a small margin.

You could always just go with a waterblock for the 470 that way you don't have to move stuff around and it essentially turns the 470 into a single slot card (you can even order the single slot bracket). Then you can overclock higher and have lower temps to increase that PPD. It's a win win situation.

on a second note. We had a discussion early in this thread about the correct pirate pronunciation is ARRRRRRRRRRR. Just to let you know =D

Silly silly ninja. Don't you know that it's standard for pirates to have cannons at there homes? I will be manning the cannons 24/7 until said package arrives and will shoot to kill anyone that comes within 20 yards of my house.... I just hope that I dont damage the new card when I shoot the UPS guy.

Moved my 470 to the first slot and everything went better then expected!

Now i'm ready for the BOINC event. I'll continue to just Fold on my 470 so I don't confuse Zodac

Good to hear that you have everything going nice and smooth again and again thank you for filling in for me in my time of HORRIBLE luck with my computer. My Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard is on it's way here too and will likely be here before the card is so I will have my OC hashed out (hopefully above 4.0 GHz) by the time the card gets here and will get some NICE results. Note to self... Don't push this new card quite as hard this time.

No problem Lawrence. I've had a fun time doing this. If you guys ever need a sub or a new pirate let me know.

So I'm testing out my 240 and it seems to get 3 to 4k ppd. How much can I OC this bad boy?

Oh also since I only have a 650w PSU, having an OC'd 470 AND a 240 is that stressing it a bit too much?
I'd leave the 240 stock just in case the 650w PSU isn't enough to handle it because you run into the risk of damaging parts (like me but I have a powerful enough PSU). besides if you OC the 240 your not gonna get a whole lot more out of it because it's not a super powerful GPU to start with (most people use them for physx which I believe you are right?)

By the way guys, my son is having his second bday this month and my wife bought him some invitations (I haven't told her that I am a dirty pirate yet) and the invitations have a pirate ship with a bear with a patch, peg leg, hook, and a parrot with a patch on lol. This family is all pirated out... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Edit: My luck with folding finally changed. I got a 2692 today =D

Other than the fact that we're in the lead at the moment and cruising right along? Yeah it's sinking.
