And Dell falls off the map again ..... - Page 3

I priced that thing out at $7800 and that's without a monitor, here's the reason why it's dumb to throw that kind of cash as something like that:

Moore's Law

Once Vista comes out that system is useless, along with the CPU and RAM when AM2 and the Conroe. whoopdee doo it can play at that resolution, but in order to do that you need to spend an extra $3000 on the monitor, making a grand total of $10K after taxes. I could make a better system and have pride of building it myself than having a company logo on it.

These systems are for noobs that don''t want to deal with building a system and once the 1GB cards are available for retail then we'll be able to make this kind of system for much less money

I slightly disagree....
I agree to the point that spending this much money at once is a waste... just buy what you need to play the game on full settings at 1280x1024.... Nothing else makes a difference...
An example rig for full (ultra high tweak) on BF2 with 1280x960:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2048MB Dual Channel DDR 400
7800GS 256MB(just one...)
And I disagree about vista....
look at the bottom here: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/n...taBeta1FS.mspx

System Requirements

Minimum system requirements will not be known until summer 2006 at the earliest. However, these guidelines provide useful estimates:

512 megabytes (MB) or more of RAM

A dedicated graphics card with DirectX® 9.0 support

A modern, Intel Pentium- or AMD Athlon-based PC.
