Hey Guys,

I have been on OCN for a good wile and you guys have finally convinced me to build a designated gaming rig. all the parts i need are ordered on on their way. now by the looks of it i am getting my case delivered today but wont have anything to put in it until Tuesday. (Aug. 3) so in the mean time until everything gets here any one got any tips on how to turn this in to a really good build log?

thanks all,
H0thead132

Can't get a new service we live in the middle of no-where. at my college though we have a 100Gb/s connection in every dorm so this is where this rig will get most of it's use. i am only a sophomore after all.

Add pics and walk through the important stuff with the pics. Don't have to document everything, but maybe the major stuff! Also, any problems you encounter is good to take pics and post them with some explaination that way others can learn, adn also help you solve your problems!

What kind of hardware did ya end up getting??

ok i finally got around to going to my local library to upload these pics.

Roswill case with 120mm fan in back with an added 120mm fan in front

my cob-job hard drive mounting and yes that is a laptop sata hdd

the heart and soul of my new build the AMD Athalon II x3 440 Ranna processor at 3.0 ghz stock

Motherboard fresh out of the box, it is an MSI 870-G45 solid little board with good all around specs

Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 Rev. 2. amazing little hunk of mettle keeps everything nice and cool.

everything is pretty much together now. i apologize for the pics after this because there aren't many (i was getting a little exited about this build seeing as it is my first complete system build ever)

HIS Radeion HD 5770 graphics card, i found that it was a little tough to connect the front panel plugs to the motherboard after i put this in, ended up taking it back out just to do it and to snag this pic.

at this point i just stopped taking pics so again i am sorry. i will get some completed build pics up on my profile eventually.

after i got this little beast up and running i proceeded to install windows 7 pro x64 and then start to play around with the BIOS. just using the auto-clock feature in the MSI BIOS and the Easy OC Switch at 20% i ended up with a good enough overclock for me at 3.6 GHz. i did end up taking out the ata hard drive and just using the Sata one just for the sake of ease. i also have taken out the extra 120mm fan i mounted in the front because the darn thing sounded like a jet plain taking off.

as i have said many times before i am completely new to custom builds and would love to learn more! so if any one can point me in a good direction on how to overclock the living crap out of this little tri-core (and no i did try the fourth core will not unlock), my ram, and graphics please do!

Thanks all!
