Overclocking a Locked Bios, HELP

Hey everybody, new to the forums, ive having alot of issues with my computer, i would like to overclock it, however, my cpu speed in my bios is grey'd out, and there is no option to alter the settings. i need advice of how i can unlock it, or another method of overclocking my computer.

my computer is a compaq presario SR1819UK

curent specifications:

1.8ghz cpu speed
2gb DDR ram (PC3200)
clock multiplier 9.0
system clock 200mhz <- bus speed i think
L1 data cache 64 kbytes
L1 instructions cache 64 Kbytes
L2 cache 128 Kbytes

AMD Sempron Processor 3000+
number of bits 64

motherboard: ASUSTek Computer INC. AMBERINCE M VERSION 1.03
north bridge ATI Xpress 200 (RS480) Revision 10
south bridge ATI SB400 Revision 10

hope thats everything, if you need more info just say, when i enter my bios settings, under advanced, there is nothing like clock multiper, bus speed, or anything like that, only the cpu speed + L1 cache, which i am not able to change.

i tried removing the cmos battery out of my computer then putting it back in, also clearing the cmos by changing the switch from pins 2-3, to 1-2 which apparently clears it, which made absolutely no difference to my bios settings.

can anyone please help me out here? i really want to overclock this computer from 1.8ghz to 2.00ghz, nothing major, yet it seems so complicated... am i able to overclock it even though its locked?

The only way to overclock that computer is to replace it.

I would say to use AMD overdrive, but I guarantee it won't work well with a system that old.

thanks for the help, do you mean replace the entire computer or just a specific part of it in order for it to be overclockable?

It's very unlikely you'll be able to overclock it. You especially won't be able to in the BIOS (unless Compaq released an updated BIOS with OC'ing capabilities which is extremely unlikely). Your best bet is some sort of in-Windows OCer application. Even then, though, odds aren't great.

Edit: Replacing the motherboard should give you capabilities (assuming the new mobo can OC). Just make sure you get one that is compatible with all of your current parts. Mainly CPU and RAM.

To be honest, though, if you're going to buy an older mobo like that, just spend some more and do a major upgrade. All of your stuff is ancient tech. You may not even be able to find a (new) mobo that supports that socket.
