A 3700+ is a pretty good cpu that a lot of people have it seems. You can overclock it to perform about the same as a stock FX-55 or FX-57

i agree. the 3700+ or opty 148 would work for a single core solution. i have my opty at 3 ghz.

if you are buying a new CPU, you might want to keep the future in mind and maybe go for a dual core as well. the opteron 170 or x2 4400 should be pretty good since they have the 10x multiplier.

im debating whether i want to keep my single core or sell it and get a dual core, lol.

Opteron 165 or 170. Don't listen to all the single core believers...

Anyone who preaches single core anymore is just kidding themselves. No offense to you guys, but you just must not have experienced it yet.

Dual core makes EVERYTHING faster! Yes, even games. Clock for clock, they're better than their single core counterparts. Dual core aware graphics drivers are one thing...and games are soon to take advantage as well. People are all like "well that's in the future"...so what...you wanna tell me in invest in 2 systems? I don't think so.

Anyways. Opty 165, or 170 would be great. Overclock like champs.
Good luck with your hunt.

3800X2 go dual core latest games like Call of Duty 2 Quake 4 are come dual core patches and all games are coming dual core out the box and if you over clock a 3800X2 to 2.5/2.6 you have FX-60 speed proccesor

Just get an 4400 or the opty 165..They both seem to be the same thing..but in my position I would go for the 4400...

I will be getting an amd 3700+ because I know it can run games very well...but as soon as I get a buyer for my amd 3000 ><
