So....for Vantage in particular, testing in extreme mode should actually reveal a legitimate GPU score? That's really good to know.

Personally, I haven't tested any of the other presets in Vanatage because everyone seems to use the default ("Performance"). It generally just made more sense for me to test using Performance mode for comparison purposes.

Well, I'll be testing in extreme mode when I get my cards. I may even run it with xfire 5850s first!

And yes, the first 5 R.E.M. albums (Murmur - Document, aka the I.R.S. Years) are all must-own if you like the alternative rock genre. They practically defined what it was to be alt-rock with those disks. They all have a very timeless quality to them, like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles, bands where you here their influence being continually recycled, so that even though it's old, it never quite seems like it's music from a specific time period.

Everything after those first five are hit and miss (except Automatic for the People, which was pretty brilliant throughout), but those five ... quintessential in the canon of American alt-rock.

From the wiki for Radio Free Europe:
The song is ranked number 379 on Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2010, it was added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry for setting "the pattern for later indie rock releases by breaking through on college radio in the face of mainstream radio's general indifference.

YouTube- ‪REM - Radio Free Europe‬‎ for the thread de-rail, btw ...
Alright. I am a fan of alternative rock, so I guess that means that I need to start listening to older R.E.M.

As for this thread being derailed, that time is long gone. So far it has passed through many topics (including "epic boobs"). It always comes back to the schmexyness of the MSI GTX 465 GE.

Your HSF looks like it's making good contact with the CPU. Hopefully there's no need to lap it.

Keep us updated on the temps and flashing process!

As for the BIOS, I'm going to use the "Best Performing BIOS for GTX 470" from the thread linked on the first page (http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/7097...ng-thread.html) or NCSpecV81's, which I think may be a modified version of that same BIOS.

If you don't want to mess with a modified BIOS, you can always just grab the "EVGA SC" BIOS or something along those lines. There's multiple files to choose from in the link above.

I'm still confused about which BIOS I should use. Will NCspecV81's modded BIOS run at stock 470 clocks or will they be a little higher?

Try that one. It's the same bios, but I tweaked and it should give better temperatures and run a lower VID.
This is quoted from NCspec back on page 77 (for me anyway). I think the clocks are 480 stock, but I'm not 100% sure. You can always flash back if you don't like this BIOS.

AFAIK, It's a modified version of grunion's modified 480 BIOS, which is the "Best Performing BIOS for GTX 470".

Either way, lower VID always sounds good in my books!

Congrats! However, load temps would be more useful Can you do some Furmark runs at 90% fan? Maybe like 15 min of Furmark. Look forward to seeing how your card oc's!
