EDIT: what voltage did you need for 840/2000?
Card #1337 will probably beat them all, though.

If someone wants to try this one out you are more than welcome. It's a tweaked bios and I used increased VID and put the card in a much harsher environment (auto fan and no climate control) to ensure total stability. There are some odd anomalies that I've noticed. You may have to flash this bios more than once to get the VID to take.

I chose the OC Scanner b/c it unlocks power caps (hotter), and detects artifacts really well. 1 artifact for a 24/7 completely stable clock is 2 too many =o)~ Also if anyone is wondering, 55% is fairly quiet.

Does your card make a high pitched whine when you run OCScanner? I believe mine started making it when I ran it (and only in OCScanner of all things)

Btw has Dan17z dropped off the face of the earth? He was having trouble running his card at stock voltage after unlocking but he hasn't posted since...

I just checked, no it doesn't squealing as far as I can tell. Ran oc scanner again for a minute or so and no squealing. I normally have a headset on so I don't notice squealing much at all anyways so it doesn't bother me.

I got the max safe voltage from nVidia's site for the GTX 465, 470, and 480 chips. They all said 1.087v, iirc.

All the same, I'm sure NCspec posted some screenies some pages back where he was using more than that for a particular overclock.
Precisely what Frosty said. I set the OC, fire up the testing program and watch.

I'll run it in both full-screen and part-screen. If I can make it 12-15 minutes I consider it stable. I accidentally forgot I was running it once and Kombustor ran for an hour straight. At least I knew my OC was stable.

I didn't know EVGA had a program, so I may download that one and test with it as well. Can't hurt to ensure rock-solid stability.

"TIM" actually stands for Thermal Interface Material, not Thermal Interface Compound (that would end up being "TIC").

Oooo I'm really looking forward to that! Mine is still supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I still plan on doing an unboxing thread.

I've heard the demo version will run the PhysX perfectly, so I at least wanted to see what it looks like, and have a benchmark run with it turned on.

Think I'll be ok to have them both installed? I don't see why not.
Instead of asking in this thread, it is in your best interest to create your own in the PC Games forum here on Overclock.net.

Otherwise, you may never receive an answer.

Nope! I mean, it would only be necessary if the temperatures are higher than they "should" be. Otherwise, don't worry about it.

However, this heatsink appears to be incredibly easy to remove and reinstall, so I think that I recommend replacing the stock TIM with your own! I mean hey - why not?

Basically its a tweaked VID and voltage cap upped to 1.2v

However, you may have to flash it more than once. It's hard to get the VID's to stick.
