Well, it's definitely a 470, all these cards are. However I'd say there's at least some possibility that there's just something amiss w/the core and that's why it's a 465.

My guess though is that it's somehow just voltage-related. My cards aren't stable flashed to a regular MSI 470 bios, because it lowers the VID from what it was as a 465, while at the same time enabling a bunch more shaders. So I have to bump it up using AB to get stable, otherwise about 1 minute after AB has been running, my machine BSOD's. W/O even firing up a proper 3d app.

You might as well try a 480 bios at at this point, as there's a decent chance that it will raise your voltages across the board.

Yes, I can vouch for this. Mine showed as 0 MB until correct drivers were swept and installed. Might want to make sure your drivers are correct.

Okay, mine unlocked successfully.

Currently running at 775/1550/1900 1.063V

Tried upping to 800/2000 at the same V but it failed after a bit, so I didn't push it any really. Probably get to that later. This setup ran Kombuster for about 25ish minutes no problems. I think my max temp was at 75C ish with the fan at 60%. I chose 60% because that is the point at which it is the same volume as the rest of my fans, any higher and it is louder.

I have no doubt that my drivers are incorrect. When I flash the card to a 470 and boot up, the screen displays at like 1024x768 instead of 1920x1080 and there is no Aero. GPU-Z says that I'm on 258.96 WHQL. I boot into safe mode, run Driver Sweeper, tell it to remove everything NVIDIA related, and reboot to normal. Install 258.96 WHQL, reboot, same ridiculous artifacting, same incorrect resolution. I've tried that with both 258.96 and 257.21. It's not JUST that the memory is showing 0MB, but also that the entire screen is riddled with white jagged artifacts from the very moment BIOS ends and boot begins.

I can't guarantee anything, but try this BIOS:

Try a few more BIOS and RMA it, honestly. It's tough but if you do it fast enough they should have a replacement for you at least!

Don't really know how I'm going to RMA a card that works absolutely fine as a GTX 465. If I flash it to a 470 there is a problem, but they will obviously see that the BIOS has been flashed and most likely refuse a replacement, no? I'll try every BIOS out there tomorrow. My second card arrived today. Didn't even bother opening the Newegg box...

Mine didn't even work right as a 465. Slapped it in, booted, and it got to the login screen and was flickering and flashing like crazy. Completely insane.

Reseated the card and that helped, but no matter what I did, it was showing artifacts. Completely silly.

And on top of that, the bearing in the right-side fan was jacked. Any speed between 65% and 85% fan and it was squealing. And guess what % the fan runs while playing games.

Got my RMA number last night and shipped it off today. Looking forward to getting one that works like it's supposed to.

I'm just pissed that I don't get to use it for my LAN party this weekend. First LAN in about 6 years and I don't have my new badass card.
