MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club - Page 208

Hey guys,

I've unlocked my #510 with the grunion (1.15V) bios. I've set it to 800/1600/1848 with 1013mV using afterburner. I ran Kombustor and after about a couple of minutes (card went to about 78C) I hear this shrieking sound coming from the videocard. What does that sound mean ? Did I oc too high?

At 775 core, it was stable (no artifacts) for 61 minutes of EVGA OC Scanner
That's why I stopped using OC Scanner to test stability. I'm only trusting OCCT GPU stress test at Shader Complexity 8. So far, if the overclocks are 15mins stable in OCCT I've been able to go 2+ hours of BFBC2 artifact free (all this is subjective and just based on what I can notice).

I apologize for this question, but what voltage did you see in Afterburner before you adjusted it? The reason why I want to know is because mine started at 1.100V, and I have a feeling that this is way off.

But OCCT itself says this about the Shader Complexity: "The highest value is not always the best."

I don't know what this means exactly, however it seems to me that using 8 has the potential to be pointless. I would run OCCT myself right now, but I'm in the middle of a run of EVGA OC Scanner (61 minutes and counting with no artifacts).

Edit: I spoke too soon: I got 5 artifacts at 62 minutes.

When I first flashed it, the voltage was 1.05V. I cannot adjust it any lower then where its at right now, 1.013. Everytime I try to go lower, it just resets to 1.013.

Then something must be wrong with my card. I've reflashed it several times with this BIOS, and it always uses 1.100V from the beginning.
