Title says it all. I just switched back to the stock bios, and the fan operation is back to how it was before.
I suspect that MSI wanted the reviewers of the twin-frozr II cards to be all ZOMGWOWLOOKATTHESETEMPS!!! and not report that it's because the profile is wildly more aggressive than reference.
Not that this is a bad thing, I'm sure many will be delighted about this observation and rush to use this bios. But that will not be me. Unnecessary noise is really not my thing, and these already run way cooler than my 480's did, so ...
Anyways, here's the proof:
EDIT: I should also add that when I did tests w/fan speed held constant, the temps were exactly identical between bioses.
Heaven maxed out, running on (slightly modded) Twin Frozr II bios, auto fan.
Heaven maxed out, running on (slightly modded) reference MSI 470 bios, auto fan.
The latter, stock bios profile is much more my ... um ... speed Edited by brettjv - 8/15/10 at 1:11pm
