Was your BSOD something about time intervals and secondary processors and such? Cause I've got that a few times, but only right after I flashed and before I actually re-installed drivers myself. Once I re-installed over the one's Window's installed, everything has been cool.

Since you're on a fresh install, I'd probably try re-doing it just for the heck of it.

BTW, you (or you, JPJ) didn't force the driver to be uninstalled through the Device Manager (and choose 'delete the driver for this card') at any point did you? Cause if you did ... that could well be causing an issue. In my experience that is NOT a good thing to do.

I can also make ya a 470 bios that's forced at 1.050V (or whatever) and stock clocks, you could see if that works. Then from there figure out (using AB) what each card can legitimately handle i.e. what clocks/volts you want and I'll make ya a custom bios (or one for each card) at that set of values. Just on account of you doing all the work to maintain the thread

I can't help but think that this problem you and JP are having is somehow being caused by the drivers.
I never went into Device Manager to uninstall drivers. When I first installed the card, I put in the latest drivers and played Metro for about 2 hours. There were no noticeable problems and no overclocking was done either. I then unlocked the card using a stock 470 BIOS from MSI. I removed the 465 drivers through the control panel and installed the 470 drivers which went in fine. Everything showed up perfect in GPU-Z, Afterburner; everything showed a 470.

The first game I put in was Crysis and that's when I noticed artifacts. I put in a couple of other games and I still got artifacts. I then tried overclocking and raising the voltage to see if it would make any difference but nothing happened. Right now I'm running the stock 465 BIOS because I plan on sending it back soon.

Do you have DX11 installed?. Looks like you don't, according to that error.
Spot on! Problem solved, ty!

I'm sorry if this sounds like gloating, and I feel bad for the people having issues with their cards, but I just wanna say, now that I've gotten everything dialed ... I love these cards.

I'm sitting at 1.000V, rock stable at 715/1750 (volts and clocks forced via modded stock msi 470 bios), I've had zero issues with any game or test I've tried so far, these cards run cooler and make much less racket than my SLI 480's did, and there's really no difference in terms of the 'feel' of any game I've played so far. Sure, benchies are down a bit, but ... gameplay pretty much seems exactly the same, so ... no complaints.

Less noise, less heat, just as good of performance from a practical standpoint ... and when all's done I'm going to recoup about $250 from selling the 2 480's, so ...

With all the talk of troubles, I just wanted to go on record here on this thread and say ... two of these cards, unlocked, in SLI, with proper clocks and voltages set through the bios ... is a SWEET setup. I'm very happy with it, and having no issues at all except that the top card gets a lot warmer than the bottom card. But that's to be expected with coolers like these.

Two MSI GTX465 GE Twin-Frozr II cards for $259.99 shipped, and flashed to 470's, was a deal made of pure win in my book ... thanks to TwoCables for starting his 'quest' thread, otherwise I mighta missed the chance to get this killer setup

Oh yeah, and one other thing ... I've never enjoyed looking through the window of my case nearly as much as I do now ... these cards are hands-down the sickest looking pair of cards that have ever graced my rig (and there's been a LOT of them over the years).

Very nice! That's a great setup, and profiting $250 to get it, well that's nice

What are you using to force your volts and clocks in? I think I'm going to go this route as well but am unsure how to do it.

Oh man Brett, you hit the nail on the head. My CM Scout's window is a little bit tinted but through the glass you can clearly see my Golden gtx 470 I love it. I haven't played too much with clocks. . not much point too, the stock of 1 card blows all of my games away. I should see about dropping the voltage from the stock 1.75 that NC's bios has me at tho.

Also, I don't check this thread as often as I do. Sorry D: this thread rocks tho, I can't believe were on page 222 lol.

Well, I'm not exactly 'profiting' ... but I got such a good deal on the 480's that I should almost break even selling those vs. what I spent on 'em like 2 months ago. Then these cards were about $250 less than that, so ... yeah. I'm getting some already-spent-money back

I used NiBiTor to edit the bios. Changing stock volts involves 3 changes on the Fermi Voltage screen (these are a little tricky to figure out), and changing stock clocks involves 5 changes on the Fermi Clocks screen (these are all pretty obvious since you just have to find numbers that match your shader clock (there's four of them) and your memory clock (there's one of those)).

Then you just save it, and flash with it.

Let me just give another shout out to NC for providing me with a bios that did the voltage change so I'd be able to see how it was done

Well this is disappointing. Running grunion's best @ 1.15v, 700 core /1848 mem and I cannot get it to run stably through OCCT GPU test @ 1280x1024 and shader complexity 5. It fails a couple minutes into it after plateauing around 90C.

Your temps are the problem. These chips are very temperature sensitive. If you OC and they get into the mid 80's, you're likely to artifact. The fan speed are you running OCCT with? Use 100% and see if you get further

Thanks! I had no idea temps could be the problem. Sounds like a Phenom 2 hitting the 65 (or was it 55) wall... whereas an i7 can go to 95 and not be affected at all.

Was using auto fan. Now going to try 100%.

Cool! It's working. But something is definitely arsed with my cooler. It rattles at 100% and it wasn't stopping the temps rising past 80 even at 100%. I called in the calvary with my massive Lasko ratcheting floor fan and I'm way farther in OCCT than I've ever been before. So my card is good!!! Yay

I think I'll reapply TIM and possibly lap, and quite possibly ghetto rig some Gentle Typhoons to it.

Well, what actual volts are you running at in 3d mode (according to the AB graphs), and what was your original 465 bios stock VID?
