Hm don't see volts in the AB graphs options. But GPU-Z shows VDDC sensor at 1.088v during OCCT, which is exactly what I have it set to in AB.

No clue what my original 465 VID was as I flashed it right off the bat. Didn't even boot to windows as a 465.

Well, not checking your stock VID before flashing was a mistake. Not a huge deal, but it's something that's definitely handy to know. If you hit 'reset' in AB what does it go to now?

AFA not seeing voltage graph in AB, you just need to enable it in AB is all ... I think it's off by default. Under Settings/Monitoring/Active HW Monitoring Graphs. It's gotta just be unchecked. Check it.

Oh, also ... 1848 could EASILY be too high a memory clock. I can't get anywhere near that on my cards. Even 1800 is dicey. Can you back it down?

I really have to question the wisdom of (no offense) relative OC'ing rookies trying to go with a customized 480 bios on these cards

Just cause Grunion thinks it 'teh best 470 bios' doesn't mean it's going to be 'teh best' for every 465 card being flashed to a 470 by relative amateurs.

I know grunion pretty well, and I doubt this application of his bios is what he had in mind when he put it out there

So ... you can't get through OCCT at that clock/volt combo ... how about Heaven benchmark or Vantage?
Hm, I dont have that option in the settings page for monitoring. Using AB 1.6.1.

Anyway following h22's advice I was able to pass OCCT. My card was overheating well past 80, so I did 100 on the fan and even used a floor fan too. Now I'm stable on it so I'm happy

Just tried overclocking to 800/2000 1.088v and no dice, failed OCCT. Oh well, was just curious. I'm very happy at stock clocks, my last card was a 9800gt!

My cooler is definitely bunk. Gotta put on new TIM and probably lap.

lol! I definitely agree with you. Probably not the smartest to flash right away but it's working. Reset in AB now gives me 1050.

I don't seem to have the voltage graph in my AB. I've got

GPU temperature
PCB temperature
GPU usage
Fan speed
Core clock
Shader clock
Memory clock
Memory usage
Framerate

and nothing else. Using 1.6.1 which I believe is that latest.

I chose this bios because it was the one used in kidwolf's guide, which I found very easy to follow. Unfortunately I can't lower the mem clock below 1848. However! I'm pretty sure that I'm stable @ 1.088v 700/1848. I ran OCCT successfully for 10 minutes. I plan to give it a longer run later.

See my edits above.

Did you unlock voltage monitoring in the general settings page?

If it were me, I'd certainly attempt to find out whether or not I can run the clocks I want w/a lower voltage than 1.088V so I (hopefully) wouldn't have to run 100% fan to game with. That's a really high voltage just to get to 700MHz.

But that's just me

! Thanks though, now I have voltage graph

For sure I want to see if I can get the voltage lower stably. In fact I think I will try that now.

You can try 800/1848. Try seeing how high your core clock can go before upping the memory at 1.088v.

Yeah let's do it! I just did 7 minutes of OCCT at 1.0v 700/1848, so I think I can get a good core clock with 1.088v.

Yowza. Couldn't even do 800/1848 1.088v with the floor fan blowing at it. Something's definitely up with the cooler, contact must be terrible.

Was your BSOD something about time intervals and secondary processors and such? Cause I've got that a few times, but only right after I flashed and before I actually re-installed drivers myself. Once I re-installed over the one's Window's installed, everything has been cool.

Since you're on a fresh install, I'd probably try re-doing it just for the heck of it.

BTW, you (or you, JPJ) didn't force the driver to be uninstalled through the Device Manager (and choose 'delete the driver for this card') at any point did you? Cause if you did ... that could well be causing an issue. In my experience that is NOT a good thing to do.

I can also make ya a 470 bios that's forced at 1.050V (or whatever) and stock clocks, you could see if that works. Then from there figure out (using AB) what each card can legitimately handle i.e. what clocks/volts you want and I'll make ya a custom bios (or one for each card) at that set of values. Just on account of you doing all the work to maintain the thread

I can't help but think that this problem you and JP are having is somehow being caused by the drivers.
It does seem like a driver issue but I can't resolve the issue. I flashed both card together; one worked and the other did not. The fact that I BSOD with every BIOS other than stozck makes me think the card can't handle anything over the stock clocks. That being said, even with the default BIOS the card seems to only run in 2D mode even with the latest drivers installed. I'm ready to send it back to Newer at this point and just ask for a refund. Do you think molded BIOS and a fresh install of the drivers will make a difference?

Maybe default 465 BIOS with forced 1.05v?

At any rate, I must be going to work now but I'll be visiting OCN throughout the day. (I love my job)

I appreciate all the help brett, thanks again!
