Try applying some pressure to the card while it's clicking with your hand. I've noticed I can get mine to stop. So I'm thinking it has to do with the way it's screwed together perhaps.

Seems to be a common issue. My card has this issue with one fan, and my friend also has this problem with his

What's your budget on the board like?

Too bad we didn't know you needed it before, I just sold a fresh from RMA Classified like 2 weeks ago ... woulda gave ya a good deal on it

Sent you the .975 bios by email ... you remember how to do the flash?

You don't have to erase eeprom or mess w/ the drivers this time. Just flash it. Remember the -i0 command to just do the first card. So nvflash -i0 -4 -5 -6 470_1voc.rom and you're done.
Thanks Brett. Got the email. I think I got the flash this time. Ugh, I wish I would have bought that mobo from you. I wouldnt say my budget is unlimited but I just want the a good mobo that will give me some good OC ability as well as some room in between cards. I have no clue about all the different mobos out there so any suggestions helpful. If this is OT you can send to my email

EDIT Yeah I still want that clear panel on but this will have to do for now. I had not really played metro too much up until lasy two night and now I am liking it. With the clear panel I cannot play the game. I kinda want that HAF X case now

I've been coveting the HAFX myself

The side fan shroud that funnels the air directly onto the gfx cards looks pretty optimal. One downside though with these cards is that the shroud/fan housing that attaches to the HD cage that's meant to pump extra air to the cards is designed to work w/a blower cooler. Meaning, one that's sucking air in at that spot, not blowing air out. Probably have to skip putting a fan in there.

Honestly though I'd go with the mobo w/better spacing ... wait, that IS what I went with

Again, consider my suggestion of an extra 3-drive bay up top with fan like I'm using. If you can move your HD(s) up to the top area and remove the big 5-bay assembly from the bottom like in that screenshot I posted ... that's going to help quite a bit as well.

Edit: Why don't we start out simple on the mobo question. Can you afford what I've got? If so, you should take advantage of my considerable motherboard-choosing acumen and get one of those. I absolutely adore and can wholeheartedly, unabashedly recommend the Rampage III Extreme w/o reservation of any kind.

If that's more than you can $tomach, lemme know, there's some other options. A key concern though is whether or not you're going to (get your life together and) get a real sound card at any point?

I have been looking at the HAF X all morning. Going to my local PC place to look at it in person after work today. Still looking at mobos on newegg. I want to keep these cards I have so bad but I can't really get the most out of them with this mobo. Ill keep my eye on the marketplace for a new mobo or get whatever one you are anyone else thinks would be good for me.

I think I am going to miss looking at these Frozr's in SLI

Just one of those noobs running a performance bios, with too many questions and...

A HUGE thank you to everyone here, especially NCspecV81 who's ov480m bios I'm running.

Even just a yes or no would be a huge help to get me moving in the right direction:
- under custom bios afterburner is pretty much useless, reporting rediculous frequencies for all parms. Is that normal?
- is it still safe to use afterburner to setup custom fan speeds or should I go with something else?
- gpuz and ntune work fine. I have to slow down ram from ov480m default setting of 1848(924x2) to <1750(875x2) to run heaven and supersonic sled without major artifacts--games all run fine though.
- to change the voltage I must change the bios. No software exists to handle this (voltage adjustments disabled in nVidia panel).
- vddc is at 0.963. This is just the gpu voltage right? Memory voltage is distinct, and not something gpuz reports? Wondering, as I thought a slight bump might get my ram running better without introducing artifacts.

Sorry for barging in with a lot of noob questions. I have tried to read everything I can find to get up to speed, but you know... often little details are left out of conversations, 'cause everyone already knows.

FYI - Stock as a 465GTX this card exibited artifacts on supersonic sonic and noticably struggled a little here and there to run it. Now, everything I've thrown at it runs great with temp max'ing out at 74C. I can't run Vantage (can it run under Win 7 x64? when I tried it reported something like insufficient hardward, no dx10), but the numbers don't mean all that much to me. What matters is I can FEEL the difference. Everything I play runs great with all the bells and whistles turned on in S3d at 1080p.

Thanks again to everyone!!!

Oram ... first off ... you need to download/update Afterburner to the latest version. That's the issue for a bunch of your questions. Once you do that can enable voltage control in Afterburner, clocks will be right, you can OC with it and use it for fan control just fine, etc.

Dunno about the memory voltage being 'readable' (and yes it is distinct) at present, but I do know that the 2.0 Version of AB that's coming soon either will have, or will soon have, support for tweaking memory voltage on these cards. However I don't hold out a great deal of hope for it making a big difference, because I believe the memory clocks are held back by the controller, not the chips themselves. Now, if the controller is able to be overvolted ... which I don't know ... then we may be in good shape for some bigger OC's on the vram.

VDDC is probably the core voltage, yes, but I'm not certain offhand.

And please ... uninstall nTune immediately.

These cards are included? I thought only a few of the high end MSI cards were going to have it?

My fan makes a clicking sound, but only when it speeds up. For about a half a second, then it goes away. Usually on boot when the fan profile kicks in.
