I had it at 800/1600/1800, and wasn't seeing any problems in games. GTA4 had the normal artifacting that you'd get with any card, just because the PC version is terrible. Crysis played fine, and the Mafia 2 demo was playing pretty good. However, they're all playing good at 700/1400/1800... so that's where I am right now.

I know how you feel. But I admit that I ended up buying the Golden Edition for 2 reasons: it is a 99.99% chance that it can be unlocked (ok, so I'll just call it a 100% chance), and it looks fantastic!! It's full of bling!

Oh yeah, and it runs much cooler.

I apologize for saying this, but for being the guy who convinced me to get the Golden Edition, this attitude is extremely disappointing.

I mean, if you start seeing problems, then it doesn't mean that it's time to return it! It means that you should have made sure it was stable in OCCT or EVGA OC Scanner using the recommended test settings and recommended duration! Saying that you don't care about OC Scanner and OCCT means that you don't care about stability. Just judging from the way it behaves in games is not a way to gauge the stability. You are shooting yourself in the foot by doing that and you're setting yourself up to fail.

If you want a stable card, then make this card stable! It's nothing but pure fun! Good grief, man!
It's a computer!

Are you able to hit 2000 memory with that card?

I'm looking to trade my new PNY GTX 480 for a 465 GE (lower number) + $150. If anyone is interested please PM me. I'm not able to post on the trade forums yet.

Stability is relative. If it's stable in games, that's all it's ever gonna be used for.... I'd consider it stable.

I was having issues at 1848 memory, so I brought it down to 1800 and it has been ok.

I've just added a side case fan (Noctua NF-P12-1300) basically pointed right at the card and am getting GREAT results. Furmark Load temps have gone down ~25C (93C to 69C) even with PostFX which it couldn't handle before after 2 hours. OCCT GPU Test 8 is not getting errors anymore and stays at ~76C.

I'm clocked at 1087mV 850/1700/1990, went up from 840/1975 after adding the side fan and could potentially go higher. Ambient temps are ~21C and GPU fans are at 77%. I'm LOVING this card now (except for the fan clicking).

Knowledge and truth are superior to guesswork.

But hey - it's your sanity, not mine. All you're doing is setting yourself up to fail. You're also setting yourself up for disappointment by not ensuring that it's stable so that you can have peace of mind and so that you never return it for such a frivolous reason as that.

Wow, you got a great card! Just contact MSI and see if they can send you a replacement fan!

Yes he did! But I have noticed throughout my testing that OCCT is HEAVILY temperature dependent, so if you are failing OCCT with a driver crash, try adding a bottom intake fan. It will make a world of difference.

These chips probably didn't make 470 binning because they are sensitive to anything above 80-85C.
