Ok. I won't tell you that

Fact is, however, that I don't really like my SLI GTX480 setup. It's hot, it's loud, and overclocked they use more power than my PSU can really put out.

Plus my cards are poorly matched, one is great with a VID of 1.013V and the other's VID is an absurd 1.075V. So one is a much better OC'er than the other, and I usually end up just using that one card, because by itself it plays 99% of games maxed out (crysis, metro, CoP, JC2 excepted) without breaking a sweat. Two of them is really just overkill.

Oh, and I got these 480's for only $364, so I'm not as attached to them as I would be if I'd spent $500/each. In fact, I can probably come out ahead selling them. And for sure I can recoup considerably more than these two cards just cost me to get.

So ... if I WERE going to be downgrading to 465/470 in SLI (which I'm not of course), those would theoretically be the reasons why

If you look at it from the stand point of a single 480 setup, which you admit is what you normally game with, then this is actually an upgrade. I'm sure you'll use two of these in SLI since they apparently are less hot and noisy than your average GTX 470 and should be fine with your PSU. Plus, they really do look awesome.

Personally, I'm semi-worried about the weight they're going to put on my mobo though.....I wonder if there's anyway to reinforce the board......

For me the UPS delivery guy usually arrives at my apartment about 10 minutes after i get home from work, which works out awesome for me in these type of situations.

If this card unlocks, it will become a close member of the family. Wouldn't exactly be a lie

You don't think using thumbscrews in the two PCI slot holes is enough? I have a feeling this thing STILL weighs less than a 5970 and definitely weighs less than the ARES, so I think we're good.

Agreed, I am sure that the screws will be enough. And if somebody is really concerned they should just lay their case on the side, problem solved

When Linus from NCIX did his unboxing video for this card he made a comment that it felt like 4-5 lbs and was right up there with the heaviest cards he's seen.....and I'm going to have two. haha..ha..ha..oh no...
