MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club - Page 315

post #3141 of 5083
@krazzymoose

Thanks for the pricing info

@oram
Yea I have to completely agree with you. No reason to get attached to this whole 465 unlocking to 470 idea. Yea the MSi cards in particular are great due to the stock cooling they come with, the Twin Frozr II heatsink is decades better than the stock reference cooling design. But if your card sucks, it doesn't matter how 'cool' you can run it it will just crash anyways.

I had a 465 unlocked to full 470, but it couldn't even run stock 470 specs with a Thermalright Spitfire strapped with 2x GT-1850s.

Like oram said, as soon as you get it back up the factory bios and start testing it. If the temps just keep climbing (like they did on my card) then prolly a bum card.

For reference...(not that any1 asked) a mehhh-ok card @ it's everyday stable OC 800(1.088V)/1700:

Idle, NOW running nothing but a browser - 39C (25C room ambient)

Gaming temp, consistently <65C (running 1080p s3d, so pushing gpu hard)

OCCT temp < 77C (takes 8 minutes to peek)

MSI Afterburner fan profile:
Temp - Fan
0 20%
60 50%
73 80%
76 100%

that's because when the card goes out of stock Newegg deactivates the entry which stops people from searching for it on the site. This also unfortunately removes your notification setup for it as well. It happened to my buddy, but he just kept it bookmarked and kept checking daily around Noon and 2pm and 4pm. Eventually he got one.

Good luck!!

They don't come shrink-wrapped, actually.

When something in Newegg's inventory goes out of stock, it becomes listed as "OUT OF STOCK" and gets this button:

Otherwise, it has this button:

When an item is Deactivated, that means it's no longer in Newegg's inventory.

Correct, but they have been deactivating this card every time it sells out. There are no buttons on the page. Its deactivated right now.

It's deactivated right now, which would have blown away anyone's notification that was set up. That was the point i was making.

So dont think that once it comes back you'll get an email. But that's how it was when my buddy was looking for one. One day they just showed up and he ordered. He never got the email. It's out for delivery today,btw.

Just keep checking and maybe they'll get more, i say.

Well yeah, they don't have a choice with this card because it's a limited edition.
