Ran some tests with the Metro 2033 Benchmark to see what sort of performance boost my OC is giving me.

Test Bed:
*Stock 470 Twin Frozr II Bios*
CPU: Phenom II 1090T 3.2ghz
RAM: 8g (4x2) 8-8-8-24
MOBO: 790FX-GD-70
PSU: 750W

The Metro 2033 Benchmark runs 3 passes, each pass remained within decimal so I only posted the first passes that way you could see the Bench settings. This game is a major GPU hog. While in game CPU load 35%, RAM 2.5g/8g, with a GPU load 99% all the time.

Image on the Right: Default bios settings 608/1215/1674
Image on the Left: OC'd to 800/1600/1800

Settings: Very High/No Physx/No DOF/Everything Else Maxed Out
*I also ran this comparison on High setting. FPS were higher but performance boost retained the same difference. So I have only posted the DX11 chart to show FPS and save space.*

DX11

5.28 FPS Advantage
19% performance boost
I also ran this OC with Physx which gave me an average 30 FPS. I did not run it on stock.

DX10

5.14 FPS Advantage
18% performance boost

DX9

7.71 FPS Advantage
19% performance boost

Settings: High/No Physx/No DOF/Everything Else Maxed Out

DX11

7.89 FPS Advantage
19% performance boost

Overall nice performance boost in Metro 2033 off a modest overclock! If I get board enough I might flash back to 465 bios for a comparison.

Looks like your gonna have to run SLI if you want this game Maxed out with a decent Frame Rate.

Thanx

Nothing like that would ever happen because MSI made them like this intentionally: they were GTX 470s that ended up being binned as GTX 465s. We had a couple of MSI representatives in this thread who demonstrated that they were happy about the reception of this special graphics card, especially considering the value we're getting out of them after turning them into GTX 470s.

As for whether or not they'll unlock: all we can do is just wait and see.

Use a really high quantity. If the quantity you entered is more than what they have in stock, then your quantity will automatically be changed to reflect how many are left.

For example: I entered a quantity of 20 (it was easy to type, heh), and it changed it to 10 because that's how many they have left now.

Speaking of which I just picked one up from Micro Center and it didn't have the clear thin plastic film on the cooler that you peel off...did anyone's card come with the protective transparent film? The 0474 I bought had the film, the new 0193 I just got today does not. Just curious.
The majority of these cards don't have this film on them. Mine didn't, and neither did the one that Linus unboxed:

Personally, I'm less confident about them "unlocking" than I was almost exactly a month ago. However, when you get yours, take a look at the back of the PCB. If yours has 10 memory chips, then you'll be able to tell. Here's a post that shows what to look for (2,380 posts ago):

http://www.overclock.net/10291214-post1118.html

But even if it has all 10 memory chips, it's still not a guarantee. The GPU itself may be a true GTX 465 instead of being a GTX 470 that was merely binned/flashed as a GTX 465 due to it not meeting the high standards.

Unfortunately, the heatsink would have to be removed in order to see the GPU itself. If it is a GF100 "A3", then it is a GTX 470 and will therefore work with a GTX 470's BIOS. If it's anything else, then it's just a GTX 465 and will not work properly with a GTX 470's BIOS, if it even works at all.

After seeing what happened to the last card I think I will leave it at stock clocks for a while.

And about the new stock of 465 GEs at newegg and whether or not they unlock, it's hard to say. But if its the same deal as the PNY 465s that unlocked, I would expect the newegg cards to NOT unlock. With the PNY 465s, they first had black PCBs with 10 memory chips...then the new stock changed to cards with blue PCBs and 8 memory chips, basically 'real' 465s. Also have you noticed how no one has reported a card higher than 1999? Maybe MSi made the first 2k with 470 gpus but the remaining 500 are ACTUAL 465s. I wouldn't be surprised if that was true...So really no way to tell until someone picks one up.
Any card numbers that we don't see between 0000 and 2500 were probably just sold to people who don't know about Overclock.net.

If newegg would sell it for $250 or less I think I'll jump on it and cry with regret later. I just really like the cooler and look of this card.

If I did get this card would my Corsair 520w ps be enough to run this card? Thanks
I think it would be quite enough. It has a +12V rating of 40A, which is 480W. At the highest possible load @ stock, the GTX 470 would pull up to 215W which would leave 265W for the rest of the system that relies on the +12V (which is quite a bit of power).
