How did you find out?

I work around aluminum. I can tell by looking at it and the feel of it.The stress marks from it being stamped into shape. The micro lines through out it (texture).

Look at the shroud closely, then look at one of the fins.

I'm loving the "back bone" brace on these cards. Really helps keep them straight. Wish my GTX280's had them. They have some curvature to them from the heavy Thermalright heatsinks.

Does anybody think crashing at 73-80C is too low?

Also any suggestions on how to run furmark are appreciated. Right now I have it at 1920x1080 4xAA and after tweaking the fan profile it is hovering around 67C for 15 minutes at 775 core 1700 mem.

GPU's are made to be able to still run at those temps.

So then there may be something wrong with mine? It will crash at 80C with stock clocks.

Have you changed the thermal paste? I'd pop the heatsink off to make sure 1. It has good thermal material 2. The heatsink is nice and snug against the gpu.

Let me run heaven right quick with stock 470 settings.

I wasn't sure if that was against the warranty or not. I have extra Arctic Silver 5 from my CPU if that will work.

Ran Heaven at the settings it started at and at the resolution you ran it. Temp stayed at 56C with 100% fan. This is the NCIX unlocked card. I don't know if they ever took off the heatsink. If they did I dont know if they replaced the thermal compound or just stuck the heatsink back on.

How did you run the scoring?

How did you run the scoring?
1680x1050
anisotropy 16x
everything else default values

stock score: 1118
OC score: 1359

I didn't have any temp issues at all in heaven. The only temp issue came in Furmark.

Hahaha. I scored the same 1118 with stock settings. LOL

Notice how it thinks my 8800GT is my main card. LOL
