I am just trying to troubleshoot some things. Looks like at even at stock clocks and volts I cannot get through OCCT without crashing after 2 minutes. Thanks.
The VID on my second card is a fair amount higher than my first.

Try isolating the problem card and then upping the voltage.

Thanks Frosty, I will try this now. What program do you use? Kombustor or OCCT?

Great news guys! I edited my BIOS to use 1674 as the stock RAM clock and set my 3D voltage down to 1.005v and now OCCT runs flawlessly!

Previously, at 725/1450/1848/1.075v, I would hit 84C in OCCT and fail within 2 minutes. Now, I have my clocks at 700/1400/1674/1.013v and in OCCT I hit 78C and it never fails.

I will continue to push the voltage lower to find my perfectly stable "stock" settings. Hopefully, I can run it at 1.005 or .9925. Then I will search for my maximum core OC within safe voltages hopefully it will be much higher now that the RAM clock is lowered.

What kinds of performance affects are you guys noticing on these cards? Does a memory OC show more real world gains or a core OC?

Thanks!

I'm getting a lot better OC with lower voltages. I'm not going to test the max, but I have two cards that will do 850c-1700s-1750m,
1. @ 1.025v Ran stock 470 bios @ .925v
2. @ 1.037v Ran stock 470 bios @ .932v

Third card I started testing doesnt like OC'ing, locked or unlocked. Going to re-seat the heatsink. The forth one is running stock 470 bios at .912v. LOL This one might be a holy grail.

Or we can just look at the back of the PCB:

I hope this card doesn't have an increased flammability when it's flashed to a 470.
The only cards that do this are considered to be Limited Limited Editions. Unfortunately, less than half a dozen were made.

Mine is already unlocked.. i havent gotten around to testing an OC on it yet.. not sure if i will.. i'm getting nervous now.
But it's just an isolated incident.

MSI has its own factories (3 total).

As for the wrapping, it could be that one of them was used for product photo or some other type of marketing purpose where it was necessary to take it out of the box. In the case of retail cards, it usually is loaned from the warehouse for a few hours.

No card would have ever been powered up prior to selling in the retail channel.

We displayed a dead card at PAX that was completely unwrapped (#0767 IIRC).
