I get the salesman I always use over, we open up box 1, and it's got 10 chips, so I buy it. Bring it home, and literally 2 minutes later, I have an unlocked 470

So happy! Now, I'm going to download MSI Afterburner and OC this thing!

I'm so excited!

EDIT: Almost forgot, the magic card is #1971.
Hey, Congrats! glad to hear you finally got one that works! How much was it at microcenter by chance? I might have to stop by mine, and check it out.

Also, what's your VID?

Congrats! Let us know the OC results. I am certain I couldn't have waited as long as you had, I would have setup a card board box, or something. haha.

It was 265 + tax. How would I check the vid exactly? I'm still a GPU noob.

install GPU-Z and look under the sensors tab. It should be the last in that list (VDDC)

I my self used afterburner to get my VID. ran Afterburner an then went into setting an checked unlock volt control & unlock votage monitoring should show you your stock VID

also afterburner 2.0 is a little glitchy with flash 470 setting might want to stay with version 1.6.1

Yeah, I'm using 1.6.1 as well, and my VID was .962 starting out. I've upped the VID (what I'm assuming is the voltage?) to .975 because I had stability problems right off the bat. Seems to be doing ok at the moment. Also, is it best to leave core and shader locked like it is? I'm assuming so, but just thought I would ask.

vid .975 650/1300/1675

Nice! That should be a pretty good overclocker for you hopefully.

I just tested some more overclocking with mine, and I have it stable @ 750/1500/1700 @ 1.05V. I think I will save this profile, and only use it when necessary. Right now @ stock speeds it does fine with most anything I have thrown at it.

[edit] That OC does get BF:BC2 up to a constant 60 fps, where stock it would dip down into the high 40's low 50's occasionally.

So I'm guessing my card at 800/1600/1800 @ 0.987V is pretty good?
