MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club - Page 434

Yea I get pretty concerned when it gets to to the 80s. Could it be that the card is just running hotter because I've had the overclock for awhile now? lol Sorry for all this, I just want the lowest possible temps

Man, I can't give you a definite answer. Too many variables. If you can get a fan next to the card to blow fresh air in, it really does help or try with the side panel off.

An OC w/voltage increase will raise the temps. I really do think your 70ishc is correct with your room temp. I try not game too long cause my brain "forgets" and I'll find my self hot in my room. LOL Really bakes when I'm SLi.

What are your temps for both of your cards when running them in SLI, like the max temps you have seen?

Also, I just read a couple of pages on this thread from a few weeks ago and people said that changing the TIM can actually worsen temps, so I'm thinking about a pci slot fan.

While in the case they run warmer. It's will change sometimes. With my case the bottom sometimes runs a little warmer than the first card which does more work. The mobo mounts close to the floor of the case. Let me see if I have a pic of vid of my benching.

*
Cant find a vid and my pics are taken after they cool down some. I don't have a second card installed at the moment.

That's alright. Can I expect a decent drop in temps with a pci slot fan? Or would it be not worth it?

Worth a shot. I'm more over function than looks so I put a 120mm fan cranked full speed. I also don't care about noise. LOL

Well actually it may not be good. I believe those pci cards blow outward. It that's right under your vid card, than the fans on the card are going to be fighting the pci fan. You need it to be an inlet instead of an exhaust.

I really think i should ask this , could the problem for a higher voltage might be related to the mother board since Gigabyte just sent me an RMA board which IMO raised my cpu temps so i think that board might be deffective. should i try a different pci slot ?? what do you think??? i can also try out a different mobo i have laying around in my house.

Shremi, that's really doubtful. The motherboard really shouldn't be responsible for raising CPU temps just because it's one from RMA either.

Different GPUs will all act different, just like CPUs are different. My i5 750 can overclock fairly well at a lower than average voltage, but not everyone's will do that. Just as some others experience is that they have to pump more juice through it than usual. Your GPU just seems to want more juice. It's not an abnormal thing
