MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club - Page 443

Guys i have a quick q.

The last couple of days i have been playing a lot with the card and i am able to run furmark for a good 20 min with 1.075MV 825/1650 and mem 1740. It doesn’t matter what i do to the voltage the mem doesn’t seem to pass over the 1740.

Can i turn up the voltage a little more ?? passing the 1.087Mv ??? I know the max safe voltage is 1.087 for this card but i just want to know what are the risks of turning up the voltage.

I just want a higher clock on the MEM. or the other thing i am thinking of is turning the core clock down a little bit and increase the MEM clock.

Any advice ???

Pencil mod.. for the memory boost will help but heat will be a factor .As for core voltage I have run both mine up to 1.1volts @925/1850 stable but the temps shoot up to the low to mid 90's for me. Yor best bet is to get another card, if you can, and SLI them. This will keep you from pushing the single card to the max and taking the chance of bricking it.

I've been at 1.100V (err, 1100mV) almost since the day I installed my card which was exactly 3 months ago now (actually, 3 months and 1 day), and my card still runs just fine. The highest temperature that I ever see happens while running any GPU stress test, and that maximum temperature is about 70°C.

However, increasing the voltage only helps with the core clock. If you want to increase the memory voltage, then some kind of pencil vMod is required.

But which BIOS are you using? I'm currently using a BIOS that has stock clocks of 700/1400/1848, and I currently have it at 765/1530/1848. I'd overclock the memory, but 1848 is high enough since the stock memory clock for a reference GTX 470 is 1674. Here's the BIOS I am using:

Grunion's "OCX480" BIOS, with a 1.21V cap (but the file name is actually OVEVGA480.rar)

Your stock voltage will end up being lower than 1.100V. I think the reason why I got stuck with a stock voltage of 1.100V in this BIOS is because my card's "native VID" (I made that up) is already kinda high at like 1.050V or something.

Anyway, the point is that the reason why I am able to get away with 1.100V is probably because my temperatures are so low. Actually, I'm not alone: there are people using voltages that make mine look wimpy.

Sweet price, Cap. Let us know how it goes

You should do some before/after benches though, so run some now before you flash 'er.

lol, too late
Took two flashes,, Forgot to erase eeprom first time , so it still read 352 shaders and 1024 memory,, Went fine the second flash. She benches out just like my Asus and EVGA 470s did. Overclocks like a champ too.. Once I figure out why this fan is clicking . Imma really open her up and see what I can pull down with it.

ANYONE ELSE HAVE A FAN THAT CLICKS ?? Mine clicks between 54 and 56 % speed.

EDIT: Just thought of a new name for my rig,, Unlocked and Overclocked

Unlocked and overcloced has already been thought up of and used. My fan clicks at all sorts of speeds. The last time I heard about why is that the blades are hitting the power wires to its motor. I really need to get more x23 and get mine taken care of. it really ticks me off too.

My fan also clicks, and like XiDillon said, there's a bunch of speeds where it will act up. I have mine at 55% but going up clicks. However it fines when you're at 70% and up.

I also saw this at the MC near me... one of the sales guys said they got it in on Friday. I am pretty tempted to get it for 239$ but the 470s have been falling in price.
