I asked Alex about this, and his answer was that due to the differences between the 560s and 570s, it's impossible to make 560s that unlock to anything at all. However, I didn't think to ask him about whether or not this is a limited edition.

At $200 CAD do you think it is a good deal for the Twin Frozr GE?

I have just order one and need to know if I can get a dual link DVI connection from these, to my DEll U2711 Monitor, so I can run 2560 x 1440 resolution.
Can this be done? what cable do I need? Where do I get one from?
Thanks

I'm deciding whether to buy this card or not to complement my existing normal MSI GTX465 (Hawk edition) into an SLI setup. I was actually thinking of selling this one and buying a GTX570 from MSI with the TwinFrozr II on 'er... but damn, that GE label sure is BLING!!!

I was really lucky to find the MSI GTX465 GE on the market for about 215 USD (I live in Korea and this is a rough currency exchange calculation) and actually, I don't even know if this is a good price.

I play CoD4:MW2, SC2, CoD:BO, BFBC2, and plan on getting other titles that fit within this graphic cards range but... I REALLY wanted to play Metro 2033 which is why I wanted to opt for the GTX570 plan that will run it smoothly.

So, I guess what I'm asking for is some advices considering whether it is a good investment now and later go for future graphic cards that will definitely run Metro 2033 without insane price ranges.

I got to give the seller a call tomorrow first thing in the morning so... any good advice now would be greatly appreciated. (I just can't get my eyes off that shiny HS o_O)

Thanks in advance!

I didn't know MSI made a 465 Hawk, are you sure it's not a 460 Hawk?

You got a link or GPUZ screenshot of your current card?

The only other MSI 465 card I can think of is this TFII:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127504

------

If you get this GE card, I'm sure you know that it will be pointless to unlock it to a 470 if you plan to SLI. is it unlocked now?

With that out of the way, $215 is a decent price, they're $259 right now on NewEgg.

Can you get the seller down to $200?

What resolution are you gaming at?

Oh my bad, I confused names completely. It's just a normal TwinFrozr II Edition.

I tried the ASUS tool to check/unlock it without much luck... unless there are alternative ways with different, positive results I'm up for it! Although I'm pretty sure my GTX465 doesn't have all 10 chips...
I was planning to use both cards on SLI as normal GTX465s OC'ed.

I think this guy is from a grey market so I can definitely try haggling prices down to 200$... thanks so much for the economic advice!

To be honest, I have quite a small 17" monitor now which I plan to upgrade as well to a nice IPS LED monitor to play games at 1900's resolution.

ok that makes more sense

I doubt the regular 465 will unlock as it most likely only has 8 chips.

We heard 1 story of a regular 465 unlocking, but it's a long story, besides you already know urs won't unlock.

Anywho....

How much are 570's in SK?

Do you think you can sell your 465 for $175 - $200?

Best bang for buck MAY be to add the 2nd 465.

However.... here are 2 options:

I think you may be better off selling your card, picking up a 560 Twin Frozr II, and if you need more performance simply add a 2nd card.

Check out 465 SLI vs 560 SLI ( look up the same games to compare )

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...-sli-review/17

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...i-sli-review/7

Notice how the 560's are close to 480's performance, plus, they overclock really well.

For price/performance I think the 560 is the way to go right now.

---------

The only reason to pick up this GE edition is to use it as 470, which brings me to your 2nd option.

Find out if the GE unlocks to a 470, if it does, sell your card, and get another 470 if you need it.

A single 470 overclocked to 800-1600-1800 provides 570 stock performance and this may be all you need for 1080p.

I'm not familiar with South Korean pricing and availability, but down here, 470's are $250ish now in case you needed to pick up another.

The real 470 TFII is only $240 after $50 rebate:

Oh do you have a link to that story? I would really like to know..

570s here sell at around 432,500.00 KRW = 387.527 USD which is the lowest market price as I see on a Korean version of Newegg but the MSI TwinFrozr II edition is at around 420$..

I can sell my current GTX465 at 180$ without problems but... I did lose the cover box.. so I guess upgrading to a GTX570 is quite a tall order.

Wow... and I thought I did my research all this time T_T I went all over Guru3D and other sites for comparisons. Thank you SO much in providing those links and making the comparisons I wanted so much clearer.

I think I will follow your second advice and go for a kick ass unlocked GTX470 + price dropped normal GTX470!
Damn, I can't tell right now whether it is unlockable.. but Koreans are aware of unlocking 465s-->470s so I don't think the seller is that dumb to sell it at a lower price.. I don't know but he did put in a description selling the GTX465GE as date of purchase about a year ago but he only took a look at it and never used it... could this mean he checked it if it was unlockable and found its not and he's just selling it? Oh well, I guess I'll find out once I make a confirmation call.. if not, then I am definitely following your 560 advice.

Actually, I have another question. If you overclock an unlocked GTX465 GE to those OC'ed 470 settings, can the fan stay at 45% and keep temps down good enough?

Again, thank you so much in giving such great advices and saving my time in research (although I did reply late because I was reading both articles you linked ^^;
