MSI GTX465 Twin Frozr II Golden Edition Owners Club - Page 502

On an unrelated note, I ordered one of the EVGA b-stock GTX465's last week for my HTPC. UPS finally got around to delivering it yesterday, and to my delight it had 10 memory chips. I flashed a GTX470 bios to it this morning, and am stability testing it now, but it seems to be stable. I got lucky again, $115 after shipping for another GTX470 to add to my collection.

I had to up the voltage back up to .95V for the stock clocks to be stable in OCCT. The gtx470 bios I flashed lowered the VID to .912V, the stock gtx465 bios it came with was .95V. Now I just have to do something about this awful reference cooler (it's sooo loud!).

Help !

I tryed to flash my msi gtx 465 to 470. After deleting the 465 bios, there was an electricity shutdown on my street while I was on the command screen!! SO unlucky !!
When the electricity came back, my computer screen would not post anymore because my GPU curently has no bios ! I dont have an integrated GPU on my MOBO.

Pls help me ! I dont have any extra video card... how can I resolve this problem ?

I'm a noob here, but I think just saving the bios to a bootable USB or maybe CD from another computer should get you back up and going. But... I am a noob, so wait for someone else to chime in before messing it up more

Yeah, but he can't see what he's doing. So we need to find him a way to do a blind flash.

anubis, thanks again for the info.

So I need to make a decision here. I have been offered a refund to return this card to the seller, since it seems to be a regular 465 someone slapped a GE cooler on. The thing is at $130 it was a good deal for even a regular 465, and I am thinking perhaps, just perhaps I would be better off keeping it till I can get a great deal on an MSI 470, and then switch coolers once again, and perhaps offer the 465 to my brother to whom I still owe some cash. My feeling is it would be sorta like resurrecting GE #0778, rather than tossing it to an unknown future. Or maybe a better comparison is making a clone, since I have all the stickers, the box, the cooler, it seems to me there would be little shame in tossing it all onto a 470. I am talking in circles now, but I am a collector of things which are collectible, which I collect, because I am a collector. So what do you think???? Would it still be a GE card if I did this? Oh, also I plan on calling MSI just to make sure they didn't send some 8 chip GE's to Japan.

Here is what I would do.
1.Get access to another PC.
2. Create a bootable flash drive with the files you need.
3. Create an Autoexec.bat on the flash drive that will run the flash automatically. Basically just type in line by line every command you need to run the flash in the Autoexec.bat file.
4. Pop the USB drive in the PC and boot it up. If you have your bios set to boot to external media first you just need to wait at this point. If not, you will need to look at the manual for your bios and find out what key to press to get to the boot device selection option.
5. Turn on the computer and press that key and keep pressing it for at least 30 secs just to make sure you got it. Wait at least another minute to be safe and then press enter. Hopefully it put the USB key as the top option.
6. Wait for at least 10 mins to ensure the flash worked. Reboot. If you have a screen you are good to go. If not boot back to the boot device selection and hit the down arrow once and press enter.
7. Rinse and repeat until you have hit the down arrow at least 4 times or you have video. If no dice after the 4th try, you will need to borrow a vid card from someone.
