I think there's a Service Pack 2 for Vista x64, but I am beginning to wonder now that you asked. But when Windows 7 came out, there were many knowledgeable people saying that Vista SP2 users may find that it's not worth the money to upgrade to Win7 because Vista SP2 is already really solid (it's much better than both Vanilla and SP1).

However, before you do this you should make sure that bumping the voltage does actually stabilize the card. You should be fine all the way up to 1.087v (the max safe voltage).

If that does work, I'm pretty sure you can tweak the BIOS using NiBiTor, found here: http://www.mvktech.net/index.php?opt...leinfo&id=3208

That tool should fully support the GTX 400 series.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try tweaking the voltage and flashing again.

OK! I lied, apparently I installed Sp1 at some point so I went ahead and got SP2 installed and the DX11 update. Vantage is now solid with no problems.
I will do some more runs (and @ 3.4ghz as requested) after work. I don't know what these card max out at, but so far I had them up to 850mhz on the core@1087v with no problems...

Let us know how that goes for you!

That's really great to hear! I imagine you'd bottleneck those GPUs up until ~4.0 GHz to be honest. If you get a GPU increase in Vantage going from 3.2 to 3.4 then that will be some indication.

Post it when you do the run and I'll add it to the first page.

I've got an unreleased utility that can in a lot of cases adjust the VID, but there are some anomalies where your voltage will decrease while under load and shoot back up to your original VID while in a different power state. However, it seems I can adjust the VID upwards best, and it's always best to never go lower than your actual on-die-requested VID due to those anomalies I previously mentioned with voltage fluctuations.

If there is a request to run a certain VID and speed above your normal VID I will be glad to tailor one up for someone.

In fact I'll throw a couple up I'm experimenting with if someone wants to give them a try. Right now I have one with a 1.1 VID @ 850/2000 but I'm trying to see if I can remove the 3D low performance power state to reflect the 3D high performance state.

So that everyone is clear for example on the 480 bios I'm using the 3d low performance state is 405/1848, which I think its removed.

As always you flash at your own risk.
