Just thought I would like to mention one thing before you guys complain that your cards overclock like balls and so forth. The stock TIM is very thick and I'm starting to think they are compensating for something here. See pic below.

This is the second fermi card I've experienced that has done this with the HSF. An easy fix with some light lapping on it and you'll need to file down the mounting studs a hair as well.

When you replace the TIM on a gpu, can you do it like on a cpu? I just use the pea sized drop.
In progress.

I was looking at maybe getting one, but an ASUS GTX470 is cheaper than this GTX465. Does anybody think this can be better than a "real" gtx470? Is the cooler that much better? Are the flash upgrades 100%?

Newegg

gtx465 golden = $310

asus gtx470 = $290 with $20mir

Yeah. or if you can spread it out like a pyramid correctly so you can add more tim for a full cover. but then youll get the same crap nvidia sends you, a mess.

Beach Audio $290 + $10 shipping

ANT $287.25 + $10 shipping

Also Amazon has them for $260 with free shipping but there back ordered and there is no guarantee they will get more.

As far as Newegg's price going back up to $309, I'm sure it will go down again in a few weeks a month as long as stock holds out.
