easy question

Thread Starter
I recently got a hold of a brand new AOpen Cobra AW-840, I know its a cheapo, but thats not the point. I have never had a sound card prior to this, so I dont knwo if anything is wrong. I plugged it into my pci, and ran the drivers, everything seems ok, but if I plug my speakers into the new card, it doesnt make any sound, I just plug it into the onboard port that my mobo has and I get sound. My question is: is the sound out of the mobo port being processed through the soundcard? Or am I still getting onboard sound, if so, how do I fix this? Thank you!

Try disableing the onboard soundcard in your bios.
