FaT is over, so I've knocked the 275 back to idle again, meaning that my bigadv timings will drop down and the points should go back up again..

Showing 69.3k points, with 26.2k PPD for now, but that's with 38 mins TPF...don't think it's helped that I've been working from home for the last three days - meaning that the WAN bandwidth and CPU were actually being used for other things than F@H...

Working at home means getting more done. I'm sure your bosses and other coworkers appreciate it a lot. Do you really want to let your whole company down by prioritizing folding over work? Cmon...

I have to keep restarting the client... but I cant baby sit... I have to remote in to the computer each time it stops working.

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! Up this morning, walked into my folding room, it was noticeably quieter and cooler than usual...uh oh....turned on monitor to see "Hit F1 to enter setup"....did so and system had lost ALL configuration info. Put it back in (reset to RAID, etc)....and it started up (with a cannot find disk drive error for the MARVELL), Windows "Starting Windows" screen came up, half-way through my sigh of relief, DAMN THING RESTARTED and LOST ALL CONFIG INFO AGAIN! Tried again, same thing.

Ok, I was well into a bigadv last night that was due to finish this morning. Had to go to work, but will try to get off early.

My ASUS board is under warranty still, but it'll take a while. I DO have another 1366 board, it is in my other folding system with the I7-975 in it.

Question to the team....should I:

A) Remove the I7-975, replace with the I7-980 and start folding again (easiest but will lose the points for current bigadv. But can remove the ASUS board and get it RMA'd.

B) Remove the MSI G70 board from the other system and put it in the 980X system. Will take longer, and REALLY not sure how my raided ssds and disk will respond. Don't know if it will boot up and if so how system will respond to the MB swap. But probably will save the bigadv (for much less bonus points).

C) Start folding on the I7-975 for the team for now while I RMA the ASUS board. That is easiest (just have to put in the right PASSKEY!!!), I even folded for the team on that system originally before I got the 980X. BUT would lose about 20k pnts per bigadv AND take 1/3rd longer for each one.

What say you guys? Or would another option I haven't seen yet be better?
Does the Asus board need to be RMAd? If so, swap the 975 out.

You have pretty much lost the unit the 980x was working on, right? And you would have to reconfigure the 975 client for the passkey and would lose the unit it is doing right now... right?
If you want to, you can put the 980x in, let it finish that current unit and then have it start folding for us.

But make sure you cant just reconfigure your current 980x system.

Don't think I'll lose the wu if I put the MSI MB in my system, unless I can't get it to see the raid for some reason. It will be less bonus points but still there. The 975 isn't working on anything right now so it wouldn't lose anything if I just started it up and put the correct passkey in. BUT I'd have to let zodac know. I could move the 980X into it without a problem before I start it up (975-->980X swap is pretty much plug and play except for the OCing and the board CAN do that automatically if I want).

I'm at the end of my leash as far as t/sing the system as it is. I really think it's a MB bios issue. Can't think of anything else that would cause it to lose all bios settings automatically like that.

Have you checked the MoBo battery..? That would make it lose the BIOS settings..

While the system is on? Guess it's possible, but would it be likely? I could put a batter in from another system (if they are compatible, and see. No harm no foul I guess. I've just hooked up my I7-975 system with the passkey now. Lazy (and busy as heck) as I am I might just let it fold through the month. I will be out of town starting the day after Christmas and hesitate to do all that changing and then hoping it will fold ok for a week while I'm gone. Including replacing the 980X for the 975. Better a couple of bigadvs instead of 3 or 4, than none at all.

Ok, that didn't work. Replaced the battery, same issue. Called ASUS, they said a tech would call me back, they didn't. Will have to call them again.

My 975 has a 6900 due early the 26th for 71k pnts. Sounds about right. I may (emphasis on MAY) try to replace the 975 with the 980X and see if that works ok. Don't think that would impact on the wu I'm doing now but if it does, oh well. My big problem is this system is rock stable as is. I mess with it and leave it alone for a week, who knows.
I for sure could get a couple more bigadvs after this one if I leave it. Maybe I could get another in with the 980X and at a higher points bonus.

Probably swap the CPU this afternoon and let it fold through tomorrow night. ANY indications of instability though and I'll swap back.

Anyway, we had a big lead so still think we'll put it off this month. Keep folding (for the sake of your Team Capt who is seriously no holding up his share right now), MISFITS!
Yeah, it is fine, we have our lead... just get that problem resolved

My GPU keeps going slow on me; it finishes its unit and then the next one goes incredibly slow.
I fixed this problem before by adding dummy plugs, but since I am hundreds of miles from my house, I cant do this.
I might try deleting the clients and re-installing it if it doesn't stop.
