That's right. k4 will stay folding on his 970 in the I7 slot. I will take over folding on the gx2 I just got for that CAT3 slot. NLM will be back to take over for JCG in the wildcard slot. I think Mikezilla is going down, so I've got to get a replacement fermi folder. And of course, our new teammate, adcantu!

I'm having a bear of a time on the watercooling. Microcenter didn't have what I needed...I got a Corsair Obsidian 600T, thinking that it had a space at the top for a 240mm radiator. Got the pump & res in, no problem, easily found places for them. Then I went to put in the radiator...and the d@mn thing is too big. Length & width is ok...but it's wide enough that it hits the motherboard...specifically the ram holders! Now I've got to figure I way to maybe hang it off the back end. Once I get it on, and the tubes cut and installed, I'll be ready to fill it and see what happens. Still...wish I'd installed the radiator BEFORE I drilled the holes for the res & pump!

Ok, folding for 2nd it looks like now....PPD took off over the weekend. Seriously think they ought to relook whether it's fair to let two 2600k's on a team, since one has a HUGE lead in the wildcard category, and the other is in 2nd place in I7 by only a little bit. They are able to fold even the new big-bigadvs, and when overclocked to 4.8-5.0, they aren't much below a 4.0 Ghz hexacore in folding.

Do you mean the -bigbeta WUs..?

I'm curious to find out whether WKS04 would be able to crunch them - and if so, whether it would be a decent PPD boost to be worthwhile switching over....also, if you set the -bigbeta flag, and there aren't any bigbeta WUs available, would it automagically revert back to doing regular bigadv, drop back to standard SMP WUs, or just sit there..?

Anyway, time to go home get some coolant and then get WKS04 wet..!!

I think it's just like with bigadv and smp...if bigadvs not available it will crunch smp.

But I know you have to spoof it into believing you have a hexacore, as it won't fold on quad cores intentionally. And you have to be on Linux.

I have a big one dropping tomorrow.
Didn't we lose a bigadv too? That would explain being behind...

NLM, I don't think it would be worth running a 12 thread bigadv on your quad... probably wouldn't see much gain and losing it would hurt more.

sstnt, I overcame the problem with my radiator size (its a triple...) by drilling some holes in the back of my case, stuck some rubber grommets in the holes, and ran the tubes out the back... the radiator lays on its side on top of my case.

No, that was JCG joking.... We're behind because PPD has two 2600k folders that have both gotten the big-bigadvs now. That wildcard 2600k is 900k pnts ahead of NLM/JCG...that's huge!

Yeah, I'm thinking now of hanging my radiator off of the back, with two fans in push pull on top, bolted onto the case by the upper fan grill, and then one fan on the bottom of the rad in push, with a shroud. The barbs on the bottom should have just enough clearance for me to put the tubes through the two holes in the middle of the case.

Man, NUTHIN' bout watercooling is easy, ya know?

Well, I've got the cooling fluid, but haven't got time to install things now as there was a pile-up or something that meant that there was a MASSIVE tailback.....so I decided to take a detour along some very nice roads for bikes.. I haven't had the back sliding/drifting at the same time as scraping the "hero blobs" before, but it was fun.... (I've done both before, but not simultaneously..)

Anyway, should be able to get on with it tomorrow, as I don't need to go get anything - saving me time as I can go straight home... (Going to Chavford's means that I have to go past my gaff, through town, then repeat [without going past the house] once I've bought schtuffs....)

That's good, NLM. We'll want you up and folding NLT Wednesday afternoon/evening, so you can be dropping a bigadv first thing Friday morning...well, mid-morning where you are!

Hmm, just had a thought. MAYBE if I put the radiator in first, THEN I put in the motherboard I could get it to fit. Worth trying tonight, anyway. It's that close!
