Hey MISFITS!!

Ok, we're down to 6th in the Competition this month, resting at 347k behind Laundromatic. I know we can do better than this, and looking at the different individual stats, here's where we individually stand against each of the top folders in each cat (for the first time, none of us is ranked 1st in our category):

Take a look at your (and our) competition to see what the difference is. Maybe it's hardware, software, configurations, overclock, etc. I know Cat2, my 9800GX2 and 9800GTX is up against a Quadcore. In I7, I know I've got a 980X at 4.309Ghz up against a 970 at 4.2Ghz...BUT I'm still on Win7 and he's on Linux and getting big -bigadvs. I've got to move to Linux (again) and change my file system to be competitive. It might be a structural difference that we can't change, but maybe there's something we can do to up our scores some. Take a look, let's talk about it, and we'll go from there.

Purpose is NOT to win every month...it's to IMPROVE every month...BUT it would be nice to throw a win in there every once in a while.

Two captains enter the ring. One comes out alive.... Its real hard to be competitive in the i7 or X6 cat without running Linux. The gap is huge now with the 12 core cpu hack in those categories.

Guys,

I'm gonna be taking WKS04 offline after the next WU or two drop, need to change the FS over, and might as well change the OS while I'm at it...still gonna be Linux, most likely Ubuntu too though...

Just wanted to let you know..but I should be back up again within a reasonably short time...

Yep...course he probably is under water. Much better to be stable than to be unstable at a higher core. But if you haven't already, you could try to bump it a few (very few) Mhz at a time when you can watch it and reset if it errors. Watch temps too, and up the fan as needed. When you error out, maybe try to up one more time (sometimes one clock speed is unstable, a higher one is stable). If that errors out, back it down to the highest speed that was stable and there ya go. Fo sure 950 is stable for you, just go up a few mhz at a time and do maybe 6-10 wus to test it.

Just a matter of time now, DR...enjoy your success while you can!

Do it now, NLM. We're already trending down, it's not going to hurt us much more and if you can get it to be able to take the big -bigadvs by having it on Linux, at best OC, with the right FS, and run the 12 thread hack, then you're right back in the show. If it takes you some time, well that's what we have to give up to get a boost!

Can a 1090T complete the larger -bigadv's?
eloverton's doing it... that's how they won last month.
No, but a 1055T will

Probably not with a OC much below 3.8 though.

My current WU isn't due to finish until really early in the morning - and I've got a golf competition on in the morning, followed up by a friend's birthday meal....so I'm not likely to get to touch it until late in the weekend - at the earliest..! Don't want to drop the -bigadv tag at this point if I restart the client, just in case it dumps the WU that has almost finished........ ....would really dislike it if it did that....

It won't dump it. I've done it lots of times. Back the unit up and give it a try.
